AR in Literature Classes
“Travel to the leading edge of this new technology in ways any literature teacher can use.”
In the podcast ‘10-minute teacher’, episode 452, they are interviewing TW Williamson, an educator in Taiwan. In the interview he explains how he helps language and literature teachers make use of augmented reality in their classes.
They use AR to enable students to show their understanding of the concepts in literature. They can visualize something they feel represents the book they are reading in class. Which bystanders, like the teacher and the other classmates, can point their phones at to see the visual the student created. In the podcast, Williams names some examples students have made.
It’s a different way to let students express themselves and to show how their interpret a story. They might want to show what the story reminded them of or they want to visualize how they see a part of the world. It lets them interact in a new way with the story.
