But yeah. Don’t get me wrong, cultural appropriation can be a means of racism, but I feel like that’s the fault of someone being racist and diminishing people to a culture, not actually the act of cultural appropriation itself (like wearing a bindi and going “omg soooo hindu!! lol” is definitely different than someone wearing a bindi because they like the way it looks).
People shouldn’t have to justify why they like the aesthetics of something… they should have to justify why they think a certain people are reduced to an object.
The reactions to that shirt are by no means rational. So why should we try to equate cultural appropriation to it?
ive sent this to like two other people but i have this headcanon that sollux has performance anxiety and karkat, being a natural leader, guides him through it even though he also barely knows what he's doing and he's just really really gentle with sollux and in return sollux is super smitten
