Filmmakers of Color. Wheeling Heritage and the YWCA Wheeling present The Ohio Valley Festival for Filmmakers of Color on Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. This is a first-time event designed to showcase creative amateur filmmakers of color in & around the Ohio Valley region. Participants will be asked to submit a short film that is not to exceed 10-15 minutes in duration. Films will be introduced by each director or creative team before they are screened. Afterward, the audience is encouraged to donate to the film, director or creative team of their choosing. Light food & beverages will be provided. Admission is free and open to the public. Filmmakers being showcased: Mikaya Green, Shawn Holmes, Keith Banks, Andre Paige, Demarise Darnell,, Ron Scott Jr., & Marcellus Cox Find Out. WVDOT will be holding a public informational meeting on Monday, Jan. 27, The Highlands Event Center from 5-8 p.m. to discuss and review detour routes ahead of the I-70 westbound Fulton Bridge closure. The purpose of this meeting will be to review detour routes as a result of the I-70 Westbound closure for the new Fulton Bridge construction. I-70 Westbound is anticipated to close between Exit 2A (WV 88 Oglebay Park) and the Exit 1B (US 250/WV 2 interchange) beginning February 3, 2020 for a period of nine months. Hands On at WU. Wheeling University junior and senior nursing students are receiving hands on, respiratory care training inside the simulation lab to learn how to best treat patients. According to Marybeth Emmerth, MS, RRT, CPFT, Wheeling University’s associate professor of respiratory therapy, the nursing students spent several days a week last semester in the sim lab to learn and be comfortable placing patients on oxygen. To achieve this goal, the students received instruction in oxygen therapy and indications and contraindications for use of oxygen, how to properly use various oxygen devices, and how to take patient and device precautions. Protect and Serve. The Moundsville Police Civil Service Commission announces applications for Police Officer are being accepted at the present time. Applicants must be citizens of the United States, between the ages of 18 and 40, good moral character and physically and mentally fit. Starting salary, $40,102 with increase upon successfully completing one-year probationary period. Benefits include paid health insurance, paid sick days, paid holidays, uniform allowance, paid life insurance, paid vacation, and pension plan. Application packets may be obtained from the City Clerk's Office, 800 Sixth Street, Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. or can be downloaded at http://www.cityofmoundsville.com/policeemployment.html. Applications must be returned to the Clerk's Office only before Friday, February 21, 2020 at 4:30 P.M. to be considered for this round of testing. Physical agility testing and written testing have been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 29, 2020. All applicants will be notified of exact date, time and place of testing. Pre-K Registration. Registration for Pre-K in Ohio County Schools begin on Feb. 3 for the 2020-2021 academic year. The child must be four years old by June 30, 2020 to be eligible, and more information can be obtained by calling 304-243-0333. February 3rd Closure. WVDOH District Six says that Peninsula Street and McColloch Street will generally remain open for the duration of the project; however, these streets and the Peninsula Street on-ramp to US250 south may undergo intermittent closures as needed.
