I really enjoyed The Wife Comes First!
I did NOT expect it to fall more in line with The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish than Erha in terms of tone, especially when the nature of the wedding night came to light.
On the one hand, I'd definitely be curious to read an alternate universe version of this story where the recovery from that experience got more page time and gravity. On the other, I really needed something light and sweet after some of the angst I've been reading!
Some tidbits I thought were neat:
- How often in danmei do the main couple get to know another gay couple, on casual friendly terms??
- I hope the worldbuilding of having certain sons marry men to minimize fighting for the throne is carried over into subsequent volumes and expanded on!
- Mu Hanzhang the man you are...it would not take me two lifetimes to cherish you I'd get it right on the first one!!
