What's one character per season that everyone loves but you hate?

Oof, anon, are you trying to get me in trouble? Haha, okay, let’s see... just to clarify, I don’t necessarily hate these characters. They’re characters that most people love that I either dislike or feel meh about. 

Season One -- Kenny

To be fair, this Kenny isn’t as bad as s2 Kenny, but I’m pretty meh about him compared to pretty much everyone else, y’know? It also depends on what route I’m taking when I replay S1. If I’m actively trying to be Kenny’s pal, then he’s chill and a lot more tolerable to be around. If I’m not Kenny’s pal, then he’s annoying and super not chill. 

He has a compelling story of an everyday family man who loses everything he swears to protect and it breaks it, and it’s done well, I guess I’m just not as attached to him. I never really was. 

400 Days -- Nate

This one is a little weird? We don’t talk about 400 Days all that much, but whenever I go to the tag, I see a lot of Nate aaaaaaand.... meh? I don’t like Nate. Yeah, he’s kind of funny? In that “I’m probably gonna giggle real good before I murder you” way? 

It’s interesting to me that Nate seems to be everyone’s, eh, “problematic fave” from 400 Days, something I’ve covered in the past. I don’t really get it myself, but hey, if you like this crazy bastard then more power to you. 

Season Two -- Kenny

It’s risky putting Kenny on this list twice, isn’t it? Aw well... Okay, while s1 Kenny isn’t my favorite, I like him much more than this Kenny. And yeah, I know, this Kenny is so tragic and broke and such a fascinating character to study.... and I don’t like him. I don’t want him anywhere near Clementine and AJ. I don’t see walking into the woods with him as a happy ending. He’s definitely one of my least favorite characters in s2. 

Sure, he has some very humanizing moments and he’s a good character-- I won’t deny that, but I’m also not going to pretend that I love him because I don’t. If you’re a Kenny stan and will follow your mustache god to the ends of the earth, cool. I get it, you do you. I’ll just be over here daydreaming about a better s2 where they embraced Kenny as an antagonist and where Luke didn’t get abducted by aliens. 

A New Frontier -- Uhhhh....? 

I’m trying to think of a character that everyone loves but I don’t here and... I can’t think of one? I guess maybe Clementine could count? But I don’t dislike ANF Clementine, she’s just my least favorite of the four Clementines, y’know? She’s still a good character that I love, so I don’t think she counts.

Maybe Kate? I know a lot of people outside of tumblr really like her and her romance with Javi, but I don’t know if she’s actually widely loved.

Yeah, I might not have one here. I love all of the characters that get the most loved. Now if this were a “Who do you love but everyone hates?” question, then I might have an answer for you. But it’s not, so I don’t. 

Michonne -- ?? Don’t really have one? 

I think a lot of people sleep on Michonne so I don’t know who’s hated and loved. Plus, the only characters I find annoying or don’t like are Randall and Norma. Everyone else I’m pretty chill with. Sam can get a little annoying but she grows on ya. But yeah...

The Final Season -- Minerva

Yeah, I know. Everyone loves Minerva and I’m just over here being a dingus like “Minnie make CJ mad” all salty like. But the thing about Minerva for me is this-- I don’t hate Minerva by herself. As a character, she’s interesting and I like how she’s portrayed. I empathize with her situation and it hurts to hear that the delta forced her to murder her own sister. I wish she didn’t get taken by the delta

Also, the bridge scene? Super good. 

No, my problem is how she’s used within the story to fuck up Violet’s character/arc. I’ve said this plenty of times, so sorry for being a broken record, but Minerva ruins a lot of Violet’s story for me and I still side-eye the writers for making this dumb choice. I just... why? Why? It could’ve been done super well and it just wasn’t and I’m not okay with that. 

Ugh. 

But yeah, a lot of people love Minerva and I don’t. Sorry about that.

Did you kill Randall? imo he's gross. I usually keep him alive so Michonne won't kill but I still hate him. :/

The first time I played, yeah I killed Randall. At that point, I was like “I probably shouldn’t... but he’s such garbage that I really want to but I don’t want Pete to be disappointed in me...” 

Then I think he said something that tipped me over the edge and I said fuck it. then Norma called like “I want muh brudder! Give ‘im back or I’ll kill your mom!” and I was like “.......Ah. Well, y’know, he’s probably fine.” 

Except he wasn’t. 

He wasn’t fine. 

He was super duper dead and now Norma’s gonna kill mom. Thankfully Michonne didn’t completely wreck the brain and Randall turned and we were able to trick Norma long enough to get Mom back safely. 

But yeah, I haven’t actually played the route where he’s actually alive. The last time I played, I killed him again because he fucking sucks. Also, fun fact, he has the same voice actor as Mark Jefferson from Life is Strange so that makes everything about him even worse. 

Though, I do want to add that he and Norma as antagonists make me... uncomfortable. I don’t know how to explain it. There’s just something about the way they interact with one another that’s strange and I don’t like it. They’re siblings and Norma’s clearly the one in charge, but there’s something about the way that Randall does whatever she tells him and it’s... unsettling. I dunno, it’s hard to explain. 

But yeah, I agree, Randall’s super gross.

It’s TWDG Michonne night, y’all!

Y’know, the Michonne mini-series is underrated. I know when it came out, a lot of people didn’t like it, myself included. But now that I’ve actually played the whole thing instead of assuming that it’s bad like a dingus, I really like it! Like, sure, it’s not perfect but it’s twdg, y’know? 

What are your thoughts on the mini-series? Did you like it or nah? Do you have any favorite characters or moments? Any other thoughts? Let’s chat about it!

Who were your favorite characters in Michonne?

Pete. 

Pete is officially my husband. I love him and I can’t tell you how relieved I am that he lived to the end. Michonne doesn’t go back to Rick and friends, she stays with Pete and that’s that. Pete is alive and happy. 

UNLIKE FUCKING ZACH

I still can’t BELIEVE she did that!! I’m STILL so upset!

Sigh.

Also, I’ve decided to officially adopt James and Alex, they’re my sons. 

And Oak is my mom. Oak is the world’s best mom and I am so happy he lived in my playthrough. Apparently he can die but I made good choices. 

Michonne was a blast to play as, too. She has the same thing Javi has where she feels strong and forceful to play as, especially during combat. 

Randall and Norma were good antagonists, but seriously, FUCK NORMA for straight-up shooting Zach! He was a good dude, you soggy potato! He just wanted to stop the fighting! 

Sam was okay, she grew on me over time, and Paige was cool. I don’t really think there was a character that I couldn’t stand... maybe the ghost daughter that were tormenting Michonne in her hallucinations, but their reason for being there made Michonne an interesting character to play as, so I can’t really dislike them for that. 

So yeah. All in all, I can’t believe y’all didn’t tell me that the Michonne mini-series was good! I’m definitely going to play it many more times and then I can form a lot more theories and opinions and get a better sense of the characters.
