“ The dark side's callin' now, nothin' is real She'll never know just how I feel From out of the shadows she walks like a dream Make me feel crazy, make me feel so mean ” ― Eddie And The Cruisers, [ On the Dark Side ]

Everyone's story has its villain. The one heralded has a the hero protagonist in a story is the antagonist in someone else's. Of course, There are such things as fables being deemed as the canon villain. In Regina's eyes, sometimes, one just had to embrace that villain's role that was handed down to them. "Embrace the monster they made you out to be," she whispered into his ear. "Aren't you actual darkness?" Every chance she had, she enjoyed taunting the one known as the Boogeyman. Such a beloved yet feared character in the stories parents would tell children to have them sleep on time. Just like her, he was another "demon" that gave people the creeps. On the other hand, she, not only embraced it, she actually acted upon her own stories. She had smeared her hands so many times in blood that she had lost count perhaps centuries ago.
It was almost night out when she met the latter outside at some park. For the past couple of days, she had her people scope the area to see if any misbehaving children broke the law and would stay out pass curfew. In this particular park, some kids were still enjoying that once viral mobile game and would come to either "reinforce their gym" or to "seize the gym". It was the ideal place to push the latter into at least scaring the children into obedience. She wished they were at some cemetery however. Then, she would have been part of the action too if they were eager to invoke a demon. Today was not about her. She had to remind herself several times.
"Right there," Regina said once more as she pointed the group of children barely in their preteens. "Why don't you show us all what...I mean who is the Boogeyman?" she continued on pestering him. "You haven't been active that, on this site for what they call Creepypastas, you've been replaced by this entity known as Slenderman. You had such a reputation and you let it end like that."
He could take a page from her book. She never let her legend die in the Mundy World (at least, in the Big Apple). She was always on the watch when it came to trend in order to remain relevant. How distraught would she be if she was replaced by some joke of a story. They were right there at his reach. They were so focused into their game that they would not see what was coming their way. With the right jumpscare, he would be famous again.
