Move On - Jacob Black

“Look at them,” Jacob spits. “None of them belong to themselves. Their genes tell them they’re happy. And they believe it.”

Embry, Seth, and Leah look over at the small group sitting far away from them. Emily had her arms around Sam, Jared was leaning against Kim, and Rachel and Paul cuddled up. Jacob glares at them in disgust.

“Maybe if you imprinted on someone, you’d forget about Bella,” Leah says to him. Embry and Seth share a knowing look. He won’t ever get over Bella.

“I never want to imprint on someone. It’s useless and keeps us from being with who we want.”

“How would you know that? You’ve been hung up on her for a year. You refuse to be with anyone else but her. She’s not your imprint, and it’s time to let her go,” Embry tells him. Jacob huffs dramatically and looks back at the group to ignore his pack mate.

That’s when he sees you.

Emily and Sam invited you to the beach day, knowing you’d need a break from school work and family drama with your step-dad. It was nice to get away and spend time with friends. You had known Emily for a while, and the pack saw you as an honorary sister, since you spent a lot of time at her house.

Because of this, you also knew about the shapeshifting. You ended up finding out when Paul and Bella got into a small argument at Emily’s. He shifted in front of you and her, and later that night, Sam and the pack explained everything to you.

Since then, you’ve been close with everyone, besides Jacob. He had other things to focus on, specifically Bella. But now, he saw you in a different light. As you took a seat next to Rachel and Paul, you caught Jacob staring.

He immediately felt drawn to you, everyone else on the beach disappearing, his focus solely on you. His jaw drops a little, in absolute awe of you in that moment.

Seconds later, though, you awkwardly look away and jump into a conversation with the people around you. Jacob shivers and turns his head towards the ground. Seth, Leah and Embry all stare at him confused.

“What happened, Jake?” Seth wonders. He just shakes his head, wanting to forget what just happened.

“Oh my god,” Leah immediately realizes.

“What?” Embry asks, still confused.

“He just imprinted on (Y/N),” she says. They look over at you, laughing with Rachel as Paul runs into the freezing ocean. Every now and then, you glance back over at the group, needing to just get a quick look at Jacob for a second or two. You could feel the pull to him, you just didn’t know exactly what it was. Yet.

The three wolves start teasing Jacob about it, making him slightly angry.

“Shut it. I’m not going to do anything about it,” he barks.

“You can’t reject an imprint,” Embry tells him. “It’s literally impossible.”

“Watch me then.”

Obviously, this doesn’t go well. He can’t fight the feeling whatsoever. And he knows it. So, for tonight, he’s going to try and open himself up, though he knows he’s still not ready.

When it was beginning to get dark out, Sam and Paul got a bonfire going while you and the girls sat, talking. Jacob, Seth, Leah, and Embry finally joined the group, but Jacob was still kind of distant.

He kept looking at you every few minutes, wanting to talk to you but scared of admitting that he needed to move on from Bella. He was terrified of it.

As the fire grows bigger, the temperature starts to fall. No one else has to worry about it, the three other humans within the group having their wolves as their own personal heaters. So, you wrap yourself in a blanket and hope for the best.

But it’s still not enough. You and Quil are talking when Jacob gets up from the other side of the circle and walks over to you.

“Uh Quil, could you give us a minute?” He asks. Quil nods and winks at you, but you shove him as he walks away.

“Hi,” you smile, a warm feeling spreading through your chest. Jacob smiles a little and takes a seat next to you, opening his arms.

“You need to warm up?” He asks. Giggling, you nod and scoot over to him, keeping the blanket around your body. He takes it off of you and wraps it around his shoulder as well, the other end draping over your body.

Your smile remains on your face and your eyes close, content and warm. Being next to Jacob made you feel whole; like a part of you was missing the entire afternoon, but now, it felt complete.

“So, what brought you here?” Jacob asks you after a few minutes.

“Emily invited me. I’ve been dealing with a lot of stuff personally and needed a break from it all.”

“I’m sorry you’re going through that. If you...if you ever need someone to talk to, I’ll be here,” he whispers to you quietly.

“Really?” You pull back to gaze up at him. He looks very conflicted. Part of him hates what he just said, but the bond he already felt because of the imprint made him say it. Finally, he nods.

“Of course.” You hum happily and rest your head back on his shoulder, staring at the fire in front of you.

He knew this was a mistake. He should have left and just dealt with rejecting the imprint himself. Now that he’s gotten close to you, and promising to comfort you in times of need, it would be ten times harder.

After that night, you don’t see much of Jacob anymore. And it hurt. Physically. You felt like there was a hole in your chest, and it got to the point that you needed to see Sam right away.

He ends up telling you that Jacob imprinted on you, also sadly informing you that he’s trying to reject it.

“We’ve tried to tell him that it’s not a good idea, but he won’t listen. He still...he still loves Bella. And he’s trying his hardest to stay involved with her and the others but he won’t listen.”

“Isn’t he in pain too? Emily told me rejecting this hurts them just as much, or even more.”

“He is, but he’s hiding it. He doesn’t want to come to terms with the fact that he won’t ever have Bella.”

Seth, Leah, and Embry enter Emily’s house with guilty looks on their faces.

“Are you talking about Jacob?” Leah sighs. The three take a seat on the couch opposite the chair you were sitting in.

“He told us that he never wanted to imprint on someone, and then he said he was going to reject it with her,” Embry admits. “He wants to be with Bella.”

“Well he can’t!” Leah angrily bursts out. “(Y/N) is his imprint and he needs to accept it! Bella’s going to be dead soon anyway, so why does he care?”

“Leah, it’s okay,” you whisper.

“No, it’s not. You deserve to be happy, and so does Jacob. He’s just too selfish and stubborn to admit what he needs. He needs you to take his mind off of Bella, she’s a Cullen now.”

“I don’t want him to force it if he doesn’t want it,” you murmur sadly. The room falls silent, everyone hating that their pack mate was making you feel this way. “I’m gonna go. Thanks for everything, guys.”

You head home later that night, in tears, hating that this was happening to you. You loved the relationship Sam and Emily had, and Paul and Rachel as well. You saw how close the imprint made them, and you wanted that. But your imprintee didn’t.

As the days go by, your situation at home grows worse. One night, things get so bad, your drunk step-dad ends up throwing a bottle against the wall right over your head, and that’s when you decide you need to leave. You quickly pack a bag and hop in your car, no destination in mind.

Though you find yourself driving in the direction of Jacob’s home. You had been there a few times, going with Emily to drop off desserts for Billy. You eventually arrive at the small house, the rain falling on your car, the sound relaxing you for a moment.

You eventually get out and slowly walk up towards the door. You start to wonder if this was the right choice, after what you knew about Jacob’s thoughts on the whole imprinting thing. But then again, he did tell you that he’ll always be there for you.

When you finally make up your mind, you are basically soaked to the bone and shivering. Your legs carry you to the front door and you knock softly. Jacob surprisingly answers. His eyes widen in shock and worry and he pulls you inside in seconds.

“What the hell are you doing out in the rain?” He scolds, not taking in consideration to lighten the tone of his voice.

“I’m sorry for coming here, but I-I had no where else to go,” you mumble through tears. Seeing this, Jacob sighs and apologizes.

“I’m sorry. Come here, let’s get you into some warm clothes.” He guides you to the bathroom, letting you know that you are more than welcome to take a shower, which you end up doing. Jacob left a pair of clothes right outside the door for you, staying in the living room so he can understand what’s going on.

When you emerge from the steaming bathroom, hair dripping wet, the cool temperature of the room sending a chill up your arms. You make your way to the couch, where Jacob hands you a cup of hot chocolate.

You two sit in silence for a short while, just listening to the rain fall on the roof and enjoying your drinks.

“So, are you comfortable with telling me what brought you here at twelve in the morning?” He asks cautiously.

You start at the beginning, telling him what’s been going on with your step-dad moving into your home after marrying your mom. It wasn’t a pleasant environment, and tonight was the tipping point.

As you tell Jacob what happened tonight alone, his expression drops and he can feel the tears forming in his eyes. He now realizes why you are his imprint. You weren’t in the best situation, and he needed to protect you from that.

“Hey, remember what I told you that night at the beach. I’ll always be here when you need me,” he says once you finish. You wipe your tears and shake your head.

“Expect you didn’t keep that promise. You’ve been avoiding me for weeks, trying to reject the imprint.” Jacob gulps and looks down in shame.

“They told you,” he sighs, rubbing his face.

“Yeah. I’ve been feeling this dull pain in my chest since that night and Sam and the others told me everything. How you said you were going to reject the imprint, how you didn’t want to imprint on anyone anyways, how you’re still in love with her.” His shoulders deflate and he sighs.

“I’ve cut her off. She, uh, she’s pregnant with his demon child, and I can’t watch her ruin herself like that. I can’t believe she was so incredibly wreckless, knowing that she wouldn’t make it out alive. I’m...I’m moving on and I hope that we can reconcile things.”

“What things? You’ve barely spoken a word to me since you told me you’d be here for me. I hear about you through Seth and Embry.”

“I know. That’s what I’m hoping to reconcile. I need to make up for lost time and hurting the most important thing to me as a werewolf. The one I was born to protect. And I’m incredibly sorry for not saving you from your home earlier.”

“There wasn’t a need to until now. And...if you’re willing to help me find a place to live, I think that’d be a great start.”

“Stay with me,” he smiles softly. “I can keep you safe here.” You grin and move closer to him after setting your mug down on the coffee table.

“Okay,” you whisper. He wraps his arms around you and holds you tightly against his body. You let out a soft sigh at the warmth surrounding you.

“From here on out, I’m going to make sure no one hurts you. Including myself.”

“Thank you, Jake.”

Promise - Jacob Black

“He’s asking to see you,” Carlisle says to Bella as he walks out of the house. Upon hearing this, your head shoots up and your eyes widen in curiosity. Why would he want to see her first?

It had been a rough night for everyone. Carlisle spent so long breaking his bones to put them back into place, Jacob’s painful cries breaking your heart each time they rang out. Paul and Embry sat beside you, comforting you when they did. They knew how you felt about Jacob, everyone did. Besides Jacob.

You were hopelessly in love with him, yet he was in love with Bella. He had been for so long, yet he never saw that she didn’t feel the same. Embry always reassured you, though, that Jacob felt something for you as well.

It’s just that Bella was his main focus, his first choice. And you were nothing. That proved to be true when the first person he wants to see after all this is her.

“Hey, it’s okay,” Embry whispers, rubbing your arm, warming you up instantly. You can’t help the tears that fall from your eyes, hating that you loved someone who didn’t love you back.

“No, it’s not, Em. I need to stop, I can’t keep doing this to myself.”

The pack of wolves share looks with one another, hearing Jacob’s thoughts as Bella gets up to leave, their conversation finished. Bella steps outside and looks to you with an awkward grin on her face.

“He wants to talk to you,” she says. Taking a moment, you nod and she leaves, Embry standing with you.

“Are you sure you want to, (Y/N)?” He asks. You nod and take a deep breath. He pulls you in for a hug, Paul doing the same seconds later.

Finally, you slowly make your way inside straight to Jake’s room, which thankfully moved to a larger room in the house than the small back room he was living in.

“Hi,” you murmur, stepping in and closing the door behind you.

“Hey,” he chokes out, struggling to breathe a little. You kneel on the ground next to his bed, not really knowing what to say.

“Were you crying?” He wonders. A low chuckle escapes your mouth and you wipe your cheeks.

“Uh, yeah. It wasn’t easy hearing you scream out like that. Everyone was at least tearing up.”

“Not Bella,” he says in a spiteful tone. You scoff immediately, realizing there was no going back from what you were about to say.

“She doesn’t care about you like that, Jacob. She loves Edward, and it’s time you move on,” you tell him.

“She does care about me. I know she does, she just doesn’t want to admit it because she’s scared.”

“Do you not hear yourself? She’s been with Edward for over a year, and she’s told you multiple times she feels nothing more than a friendship with you. Find someone else, someone who is willing to love you for you, and not because you’re a distraction and only seeing you as a friend.”

“Oh really? Where am I supposed to find someone like that, huh?” You laugh cynically and stand up.

“Right fucking here, Jacob. I have loved you for so long, yet you never saw it because you were so hung up with Bella. And honestly, I’m sick of this. I’m done trying to get your attention, I’m done trying to love you, and I’m done with whatever this is. I can’t keep being around you, reminded of how you will never look at me the way you look at Bella, or how I could possibly be your imprint, based on what Sam says, and how you will never feel the same way for me as I feel for you. It’s exhausting, and quite frankly, it’s not worth it anymore. Goodbye Jacob.”

You turn and walk out, not giving him a chance to explain, fearing that you would fall back into his arms if he even spoke of how sorry he was. You needed time, and you were hoping he would give that to you.

Embry immediately brings you into his arms when you step outside, comforting you as you quietly cry into his shoulder.

“Embry, why don’t you take her home,” Billy tells the young wolf. He nods and pulls away from you, grabbing your hand to take you to his car.

“How did it go?” Embry asks as you start the drive back into Forks.

“I told him he needs to move on from Bella, to find someone else who will love him for him. He got mad because he still believes Bella loves him and will leave Edward.”

“Did you tell him you love him?”

“Yeah,” you whisper. “I told him that someone is right in front of him, but it’s too exhausting to love someone who doesn’t love you back. I left before he could say anything else. I just...need space from him right now.”

“I know I shouldn’t tell you, because this telepathy is kind of invasive, but I hear him kicking himself right now. He’s thinking about how much he ruined your friendship and how awful he feels.”

“He didn’t feel too awful when I, coming to him as a friend, told him that what he is chasing after is no use.”

“I know, I know. But I just wanted to tell you that your words got to him, so you did the right thing.” A small smile breaks out onto your face and Embry notices.

The rest of the drive, you turn the radio on and listen to the soft songs play while you watched the tall trees pass by. When Embry got to your house, he was planning on leaving right away, but you ask him to stay.

“Would you stay with me? Just for tonight?” You ask. He agrees right away, seeing as you’ve gone through a lot within the past couple hours and being alone probably wasn’t the best option.

“We can have a movie night like we used to, before the whole shape-shifting thing,” he smiles, walking inside with you.

“That sounds great. I need a break from everything. I’ll get the popcorn and sodas, you find a movie. Comedy, please.”

“Of course.”

The days pass and Embry is now gone. He stayed with you the first couple days after everything happened. He knew you needed some company to lift your mood, and thankfully, he did.

You were much happier and coming to terms with how things ended with Jacob. Embry of course had to tell you what was going on, just so you were in the know. Jake had fully healed by now, and according to Paul, he was planning on visiting you sometime soon.

And that just so happened to be today.

You were doing some chores around the house when a knock sounds on your front door. Pausing your music, you answer it, thinking it’s the delivery man, as you were expecting a package, but to your surprise, you find Jacob.

“Uh, hi,” he mumbles, shoving his hands in his pockets, rocking on the balls of his feet.

“Hi,” you clear your throat, not really knowing what to do or say.

“Um, I wanted to talk to you about what happened,” he begins. Seeing as it was a nice, rainy day out, you step outside, shutting the door behind you, and guide him over to the porch swing.

“What is it that you wanted to say exactly?” You ask, staring forward, not wanting to look at him just yet.

“I was an idiot. I let my emotions get the best of me and didn’t think about anyone else but myself.”

“You got that right,” you mumble to yourself, though Jacob hears.

“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I’m sorry for not seeing that you loved me and being so...caught up in someone else.”

“You don’t need to be sorry about that, Jake. You can’t help who you love. But when it comes down to it, the thing I’m upset about is the fact that even after Bella told you so many times that she doesn’t love you like you love her, you still tried to pursue her. You didn’t let her go like you should have an found someone who actually cares for you.” He nods along to your words, which were very similar to what you said to him a few nights ago.

“I see that now. I got a stern talking from both my dad and Sam, and the rest of the pack, and I can’t believe how horrible I’ve been acting and…” He looks at you, finding you staring at him already. Although you didn’t really want to see him, you still felt some sort of love for him. Watching him talk was so mesmorizing.

His mouth opens and closes as he tries to say something, and he soon realizes what it is. You are in fact his imprint. You feel it too. He’s told you about imprinting before, when he told you about Sam and Emily, and the feeling he described his imprintee would feel, this was it.

“Jacob,” you whisper.

“God, I am so fucking stupid,” he finally breaks the stare to lean his arms on his knees, his head in his hands, disappointed in himself. Your hand comes up to rub his shoulder, making him flinch a little.

“Sorry,” you murmur, removing your hand. Jacob sits back up and shakes his head.

“I just, I can’t believe you’re the one. I’m so dumb.”

“Well, yeah,” you chuckle. “But again, you can’t help who you fall for.”

“Except for I could. I could have dropped Bella, but I didn’t. And I hope you understand how truly sorry I am.”

“Are you sorry for it because you’re sorry for it, or because I’m your imprint?”

“I am sorry for it, and the imprint goes with it because I feel the pain I put you through. I can feel how heartbroken you are, and I hate myself for it.”

“I mean, I’m still not happy about how everything went down, and how you still refused to think Bella wouldn’t leave Edward for you. But, I’m not going to reject the imprint, and I know we can’t be away from each other for long, so we’re going to have to work through this.”

Jacob smiles softly and holds his hand out for you to take. Reluctantly, you place your hand in his, which immediately closes around it.

“I promise to never hurt you like this again. If you give me a chance to love you, or if that’s no longer an option, then I’ll be your protector. You’re by my side forever.”

“Jake, you really did hurt me,” his face falls, nodding his head. “But I can’t say that I don’t love you anymore. All I’ve thought about these past couple days after Embry went to sleep, was you. How I wanted to be spending time with you, but you were in love with another girl.”

“I’ll wait as long as you need me to,” he whispers, squeezing your hand. “If it means we can be together, because I want to give this a chance, a chance to do things right and not have someone else in the way.”

“You do?”

“Yeah. I’ve thought over everything since you left and with Bella out of my mind, I was finally able to think about you. And all the times that we’ve spent together, when I talk about Bella and your face would just slightly fall. I remembered all the little things that you did because you loved me, but I never saw them. But trust me, that part of my life is over. She’s gone, and it’s just us going forward.”

“You promise?” You grin a little. Jacob nods.

“I promise. And I won’t be breaking that anytime soon.” You curl up into his side, your head falling to his shoulder.

“Good. Because she stole too much of our time together and I can’t lose you again.”

“Hey,” he whispers, sitting up and tilting your chin so you look at him. “You’re not gonna lose me. We have this special connection now. And no one is going to steal you from me. Ever again. I mean..”

“Unless it’s our child?” Jacob chuckles, finding it funny that you were thinking the exact same thing, leading him to think that a relationship is very much possible in the future.

“Exactly, darling.”

New Start -Jacob Black

a/n: i kinda just had an idea of a quote in my mind and this is what happened 🤣

Jacob’s hands crumble the piece of cardboard paper he received, the names burning his eyes like sunlight does to vampires. He throws the ball of paper down onto the ground as he exits his house, the rain soaking it immediately.

“Jake! Jacob!” His father calls after him, but he’s too angry to hear him. Jacob transforms into a wolf and runs into the forest to blow off some steam.

You were sitting on the couch of your home, relaxing for the first time since your freshman year of college finished for the summer. Your parents were gone for the week, both on separate business trips to opposite sides of the country.

The movie you were watching was cut short by the power going out.

“Ah great,” you groan, standing up and turning your phone flashlight on. You quickly light some candles and set them on the coffee table, as well as getting a real flashlight so your battery didn’t go out. As you are trying to light another candle, a loud banging on the front door startles you. Thankfully, you don’t drop the now lit item.

Answering it, you find Jacob, soaked to the bone, his face still red with anger.

“Jake, what are you doing here?” You immediately let him inside, running to the hall closet to grab him a towel.

“I just, I needed to talk to someone,” he mumbles, drying himself off. He removes his shoes and falls to sit against the front door as to not get any of the carpet in your living room wet.

“I’ll get you some dry clothes. I think you left some over here the last time you slept over.” He smiles and nods, watching you disappear upstairs. A soft sigh passes his ips and he can feel the tears coming on.

When you return with clothes for him, he takes a flashlight with him to the bathroom and changes as quickly as he can. You throw his wet clothes in the dryer so he’ll have them when he goes home.

He joins you on the couch and you sit in silence for a short while. You weren’t sure if he would want to talk about it right away or not.

“She’s really marrying him,” he finally blurts out, mumbling as quietly as ever. “I got the invitation today.”

“Oh Jake, I’m sorry,” you whisper, stroking his bicep softly.

“I really didn’t think she would because of how dangerous it can be. He can kill her at any moment, and their honeymoon, I don’t even want to think about it,” he shivers. You chuckle a little.

“I mean, who wants to think about what people do on their honeymoon?” You try to lighten the mood. Jacob just offers a small grin, his eyes focused on his hands, picking at his nails.

“Have you every loved someone, and they didn’t love you back?” He wonders after another few minutes of silence. Your eyes soften when you notice a single tear fall down his cheek.

“Yeah,” you whisper, swallowing hard. “It’s not an easy thing to go through.”

“How did you cope with it? How do you get through it?” You were trying hard not to cry.

“I tried to move on. I tried forgetting about them. But it’s not as simple as it sounds when they’re a constant in your life.”

“Did you run away from the problem?” He glances at you. You were doing a good job of keeping your tears at bay, currently, but you knew the dam was going to break soon.

“I sat by and watched as they fell in love with someone else,” you choke out. “There was nothing I could do, and I enjoyed their company too much to let them go. I decided I was better off keeping y-them around and dealing with the fact that they’ll never love me, than not having them around at all.”

Jacob catches your slight mistake and he perks up. You quickly excuse yourself to the bathroom, your hand flying to your mouth to hold back your sobs. Jacob stays put, having figured everything out and allowing you some time.

After five minutes, he can hear your sobs now, and his heart aches terribly. He gets up and slowly walks over to the bathroom, knocking as gently as ever.

“(Y/N)? Can you open the door?” Taking a couple deep breaths and wiping your face, you open the door, coming face to face with his tear-stained cheeks as well.

“It’s me, wasn’t it? I was the one you were talking about?”

“You caught my slip-up, huh?” You chuckle awkwardly. Jacob nods his head and reaches out for you.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Aside from the fact that you were so openly in love with her, sometimes it’s better to let things go. Some things aren’t worth fighting for, and I knew you would never feel the same.” He stares deeply into your eyes, seeing you in a whole different light, metaphorically speaking, as it was still pitch black in your house besides the single flashlight illuminating the space around you.

His heart feels like it’s being tugged by something, and he wants, though more like needs, to bring you into his arms in a bone-crushing hug. So he does. You break down once more, sobbing loudly into his shoulder.

“Shh, it’s alright, I got you,” he whispers in your ear, his own tears starting up again.

“You’re my imprint,” he tells you once you calm down. You pull away slightly to look up at him.

“What? When did this happen?”

“Just now, and god, I can’t believe how stupid I was to chase after Bella.”

“You weren’t stupid, you love her.”

“Loved. She obviously doesn’t feel the same. She’s marrying Edward. Like you said, it’’s not worth fighting for, and sometimes, it’s just better to let things go.” You smile up at him and lay back against his chest, still in his arms.

“Then yeah. You were the guy I loved, or still love.”

“Do you think it’s possible for you to give me a chance?” He wonders, his voice just above a whisper. “Or at least try to forgive me?”

“Seeing that you’ve finally come to your senses about Bella not loving you like you did her, I think we can start somewhere.”

“How about starting new?” He offers. “I’m Jacob, and I’m going to fall in love with you sometime soon.” You giggle and step back a bit, sticking your hand out for him to shake.

“I’m (Y/N). I’m already in love with you, and I’m ready for you to finally realize that I can treat you so much better than her.”

“As long as you don’t fall in love with a vampire, I’ll be okay.” You raise your eyebrows at him.

“I don’t know. Have you seen Emmett?” You joke, making Jacob narrow his eyes at you.

“You’re not funny,” he lightheartedly says. You chuckle and kiss his cheek.

“I think I’m hilarious. But on a serious note, that’s not gonna happen. You imprinted, remember? I won’t want anyone else but you if I’m destined to be by your side forever.”

“You’re so amazing,” he grins, caressing your cheek with his hand.

“I know.”

Jacob brings you back to the living room by grabbing your hand, and plops down on the couch, pulling you into his arms.

“It’s a new start from here on out,” he makes this clear for a second time. “No one else but us.”

“She’s no longer a problem, hun,” he whispers in your ear, kissing your cheek and temple afterwards. “I’ve only got eyes for you now.”

Truly Sorry - Jacob Black

a/n: so i was feeling for jacob’s wedding look and this happened. i had an angstier idea where you were the one getting married, but i was kinda in the mood for fluff :)

Weddings are supposed to be fun, happy, and exciting for everyone involved. Though what could be more fun than being left alone?

You were supposed to be attending your cousin’s wedding with Jacob, but a couple nights ago, you got into a horrible fight, leading him to shift into his full wolf form and take off in the woods, still not having returned.

The fight was over something stupid, well, not really stupid, but something that didn’t need to be blown out of proportion. You mentioned taking a week-long trip to another state, or even another country, just to get away for a while, and Jacob didn’t really like that for some reason. He went on this long rant of how he’s needed here in Washington with the pack, and that things aren’t exactly the best right now with the vampires swarming in.

You understood to a certain point, but you reminded him that you’re human and you sometimes need a break from all this supernatural stuff. He didn’t like this either, continuing with his tirade of how this is his life, how he can’t just run away when things get too tough; he has to stay and fix things, he was born to do so.

Before leaving, he made a comment that will forever hurt your heart. “I wish I never imprinted on someone who doesn’t understand me and my purpose on this Earth as a Quileute.”

He then ran out of the house, shifting into his sandy wolf form and running between the trees. After taking a moment to collect yourself, you headed straight over to Sam and Emily’s, finding the rest of the pack there, of course.

You cried in Kim’s arms as the boys talked with Sam about Jacob and Emily made you some tea. Never did you think Jacob would say something like that to you. You were nothing but supportive of him through your entire friendship and relationship, even when you found out he’s able to turn into a giant wolf. Especially when you found out he imprinted on you and bonded the two of you for life.

A day goes by and there is still no sign of Jacob. Sam and Emily let you stay in the guest room of their home, knowing you need some time away from the space where the fight occurred; and for the company.

Paul and Embry reassured you that they found Jacob, uninjured and completely unharmed. He was okay, but he told them he needed a little more time to himself, to blow off some more steam.

You of course told them about the wedding, and that you were just going to go alone, but Paul offered to take you, and as much as you appreciated the gesture, you didn’t really want to explain to every single family member there that Paul is with you because you and Jacob got in a fight and he’s currently living as a wolf in the woods.

It was easier, albeit sadder, to go alone, so that’s where you are now.

Family and close friends of the bride that you know kept coming up to you, asking if you and Jacob are okay, if he’s okay, if you broke up. And honestly, attending the event with Paul would have been better than being constantly asked if you still have a boyfriend.

“Hey,” your cousin comes up to you after a while. “How are you holding up?”

“I’m doing good. I just can’t stop thinking about the last thing he said to me before he stormed off to stay with a friend.” She rubs your shoulder as you look around, trying not to cry.

“I think there’s someone who wants to see you,” she says, a small smile on her face. Your eyebrows crinkled as she pulled you to stand up, bringing you to the back entrance of the reception hall. She opens the door and there stands Jacob, in front of the decorated gazebo that your cousin had done for photos after sunset.

“Jake?” You whisper. Your cousin pushes you just a little closer to him, keeping the door propped open with a brick so that the music could be heard.

“Hi,” he mumbles, walking over to you. ”I’m sorry I’m late, and not very well dressed for the occasion.” He looks down at his white button-up and black jeans, shrugging awkwardly. The top few buttons were undone, exposing his chest slightly. You shake your head and step a little closer, hesitant about if he’s still upset.

“It’s not that big of a deal,” you say, rubbing your arms to warm yourself up from the chilly wind. He opens his arms for you to fall into, knowing he’s your favorite source of heat whenever you’re cold.

“Jacob, I don’t-”

“I came here to apologize for everything,” he interrupts, sensing your uneasiness. “I can’t believe what I said to you. I hate that I said I wished that, and I hate myself for it.” You begin to tear up, and Jacob’s heart breaks all over again.

He wants to so badly reach out and hug you tightly to him, but he knows you’re still trying to come to terms with him being here anyways.

“Dance with me?” He whispers, holding his hands out in front of him a little. Roslyn by Bon Iver and St. Vincent just started to play, a song you two loved listening to on rainy days. Through tears, you take his hand and he guides you over to the gazebo, pulling you to his chest as soon as you’re standing in the middle.

One of his hands holds yours while the other goes around your waist, keeping you close. Your second hand rests against his strong back, feeling the warmth spread over your skin already.

His head falls to your shoulder and you feel his lips lightly press against your exposed skin; it wasn’t a kiss, he was just laying them there, knowing it would also provide heat. His scruffy chin scratches against you, a feeling you loved, one that you always felt in the morning.

“I really am sorry. The last thing I want is for someone else to be my imprint. I love you so damn much, and honestly being away for a small amount of days, it was painful. All I wanted was to hold you in my arms, but I couldn’t face you knowing the last thing I said to you.”

The bond with your imprint was so strong in this moment, that you suddenly didn’t care about the fight anymore. You were just glad to have your Jacob back. Your head raises from his shoulder and you look into his eyes. His expression drops, though, as soon as he sees your tear-stained cheeks.

“Oh baby,” he coos, his hand on your waist reaching up to wipe them away. “Come here.” He hugs you as tight as can be, needing to feel this close to you, needing to take in what you felt like, so he’ll never forget it.

“I’m so sorry,” he whispers into your shoulder, repeating it over and over. By now, he was crying, because he hated seeing you like this.

The slow, peaceful song was still playing when you both pulled back. Jacob cups your cheeks and kisses you so deeply, pouring all of his emotions into it to make sure you feel how much he cares for you.

“Let’s run away together,” he suggests. “Not for long, but maybe we can go to a different part of Washington, or Oregon, or any other state. Or maybe Switzerland.” You giggle lightly and do as he did before, rid his cheeks of his tears.

“Are you sure? I mean I don’t-”

“I am one thousand percent sure. Whatever I said during the fight, that wasn’t me. I was stressed and overworked with pack stuff, I needed to take my anger out and you were unfortunately on the receiving end.”

“That’s what the pack told me, but I needed to hear it from you.”

“Well, they were the ones to hear it from me, going through my thoughts and all,” he chuckles lightly, but then turns serious. “But I get it. And I’m here, in front of you, telling you that it was a different side of me, one that I never want you to see again.”

“I think you need a vacation, Jake. I get you need to be here for the pack and everything, but I also need you healthy, and that includes your mental health.”

“I agree. I talked things through with Sam and he said time with you is definitely needed. So, let’s head to Switzerland to spend time as an engaged couple.” You suddenly freeze, gazing up at him.

“Jake, we’re not…” He pulls away and reaches into his pocket, getting down on one knee. You burst into tears immediately.

Just days ago, you wondered if yours and Jacob’s relationship was over, and now, he returned to propose to you.

“Will you marry me, (Y/N)? You are the love of my life, and I can’t imagine spending it with anyone else.”

“Yes, of course I will,” you cry out, jumping into his arms. He laughs loudly and spins you around, your song close to ending, but still playing nonetheless. It was a perfect moment.

After a few kisses, Jacob shakily takes the ring from the box and slides it onto your finger. It fit perfectly and it was incredibly beautiful. It had a forest-y and earthy aesthetic to it, with a bright emerald sitting in the middle.

“No diamonds were available?” You wonder, completely joking. Jacob thinks your comment is a way of criticizing or shaming him for not getting a traditional diamond ring. He shakes even more, his nerves growing, anxiety taking over his mind since he thinks you don’t love it.

“Well, uh, emerald is the birthstone of the month of May, which is the month we first met, and the month when I asked you to be my girlfriend, and when I imprinted on you, so I thought it held some significance. But blame Leah and Emily, they’re the ones who thought it would be a good idea because I know you don’t like entirely flashy jewelry and-” You cut him off with a kiss.

“Hey, I’m totally kidding. It’s absolutely beautiful and I love it even more than a traditional diamond ring. You really do know me well. I love the emerald. I’m sorry if I made it seem like I was complaining, but the reason why you got it is so meaningful and it makes it so much more special.” He breathes out a sigh of relief and laughs it off. You kiss him again, just to make sure you’re clear on things.

Another slow song plays and Jacob pulls you back into his arms for another dance. You resume the same position as before, but this time, you weren’t crying tears of sadness, they were happy ones. Happy that you had your boyfriend, now fiance, back with you.

“So, Switzerland for a week and a half?” He confirms. You giggle and nod against his shoulder.

“Yeah, that sounds amazing.”

You continue to dance until the song ends, and the music from inside stops completely. You weren’t paying attention, but when Jacob raises his head to speak to the person approaching, you turn around.

“Did she say yes?” Your cousin appears by herself, carefully running towards the two of you.

“She did,” Jacob responds with a bright smile, holding your left hand out for her to see.

“Wait, you knew about this?” You ask her, stepping away from Jacob.

“Yeah. He showed up when you were in the bathroom and he told me all about your fight, and he wanted to make up for it by proposing to you, although he was scared to tell me because it’s my wedding day. But seeing how upset you were without him, it suddenly didn’t matter.”

“I wasn’t gonna tell you or anyone because it’s like an unspoken rule that you don’t get engaged on someone’s wedding day,” you groan. She laughs and playfully slaps your shoulder.

“It’s okay! No hard feelings, I promise. I played Rosyln for the two of you; he told me that’s your song and he wanted to do it then.” You turn to Jacob, who has a cheeky grin on his face.

“That was you?” He nods and wraps an arm around your waist.

“Thank you so much,” he thanks her, pulling away from you for a moment to give her a hug.

“Anything for my favorite cousin. It was awful seeing her so broken and down. I’m glad you worked things out.” You give her a hug before she heads back inside, giving you two more time together.

“I love you so much, Jacob Black. I’m looking forward to spending time together in Switzerland, as an engaged couple. See, now that sentence is true!” Jacob laughs loudly and circles his arms around your waist.

“I love you too, baby. Just think, in a year, this,” he glances up, “could be our own gazebo, with you in a beautiful wedding dress, and me in a real tux instead of a button-down and jeans.” You chuckle and kiss him, your arms going around his neck.

“Can’t wait.”

Confession - Jacob Black

“So, it’s just us four then?” Jacob confirms, looking between the small group. Your friend group decided to go to the movies over the weekend, but with Jessica bailing because she didn’t want to be around Bella, Angela getting sick, and Eric taking care of her, it left you, Mike, Jacob, and Bella

“Yep,” Bella sighs, shoving her hands in her pockets.

“Great,” Jacob smiles. Mike offers a slight grimace, repeating the same word in a different tone.

Heading inside, you go straight for the concession stand, getting some popcorn for yourself. Mike gets in another line for some candy and a soda, and Bella and Jacob stand off to the side, waiting and talking.

Jacob had a smile on his face as they chatted away, a smile you remember falling in love with. But then Bella came along and took him away from you when her boyfriend left.

“You ready to head in?” Mike wonders as you regroup. Silently, you walk behind the group, your mind filled with so many thoughts.

You met Bella on her first day at Forks High, after Jessica introduced her. Once she settled into the community and school, she opened up a lot more and was very friendly. The only problem was she shut everyone out after Edward broke things off and left.

That also meant you would lose your long-time friend Jacob. You two were friends since his father often got coffee at the shop your parents owned. Most times, he would be sent to get his dad’s order, leading to a great friendship. And you of course ended up falling for him, as things usually go.

“(Y/N)? Are you okay?” Jacob breaks you from your daze. Your eyes meet his and you feel slightly embarrassed.

“Yeah, sorry. I was just thinking about something,” you brush off, following him to the seats. Bella sat in between Jacob and Mike while you sat on Jacob’s left side. You were quiet for almost all of the previews while the other three decided to engage in conversations here and there.

Once the movie started, you were glad that there would be no talking, and you could think things through a bit more. You wanted to tell Bella that her friendship with Jacob was ruining your friendship with him, but who were you to say something like that? You didn’t own him, he was allowed to have other friends.

Halfway through the movie, as you are setting your empty popcorn bucket on the ground, you see both Mike and Jacob’s hands resting on the arm chairs. Both waiting for Bella to place her hand in them.

You can’t help but scoff quietly and sit back. Jacob glances over and laughs.

“Not enjoying the movie?” He teases, shoving your shoulder a bit. You feign happiness and nodded.

“Kinda dumb so far.” He turns back, not giving a second thought to your mood.

A little while later, Mike suddenly gets up and sprints out of the theater. No one moves to go check on him, but instead, Bella checks the time on her phone. That was a mistake, and suddenly everything changes again.

“Oh my god, it’s Edward,” she quietly gasps, heading out of the theater as well. You and Jacob look at one another and he shrugs, not moving a muscle. You decide to stay as well, not wanting to bother the people behind you anymore.

When the movie ends, you and Jacob make your way out of the theater after everyone else does. Bella and Mike are nowhere to be seen in the hallway or lobby.

“I wonder what happened to Mike,” you say, glancing around in search of his bright blond hair.

“It sounded like he said he was going to be sick, so he may have gone to throw up. And Bella...had more important things to take care of,” Jacob responds. You two walk side by side, continuing to talk, and you feel him shyly grab your hand.

Looking down, you slowly release his grasp, allowing his hand to drop back down. The two of you come to a set of stairs that lead up to the film rooms above theaters.

“Can I not hold your hand?” He wonders with slight discouragement in his voice.

“I mean, yeah, but...why do you want to?” Jacob laughs and moves a little closer to you.

“Because I think you’re cute and I would like to.”

“What happened to you liking Bella?” His eyebrows furrow and his brown eyes narrow at you.

“I saw you holding your hand out for her in the theater,” you add. “And I know you two have spent a lot of time together, and I’m not going to say you can’t, but I don’t think you see her intentions as she does.”

“Huh?” You take a deep breath and sit down, facing forward. Jacob keeps his gaze on you, wanting you to explain everything that was going on in your mind.

“I know you like her. The way you talk about her, how you get so excited to see her, how every time you hang out, it’s always a great time.” Jacob sighs and leans against the railing.

“But she’s not over Edward. She’s still very much in love with him and continues to write to his sister, trying to figure out where he’s at and what he’s doing, anything to try and get in contact with him.” By now, you are just spewing out words, hating that your feelings for him were getting in the way of his friendship.

“She just ran out of the theater because she got a call from him. She’s using you to fill a space in her heart. All you are to her is a distraction. She wants Edward and she won’t ever get over it. The only reason she asked you to help her fix up those bikes was so she could see Edward after she realized she saw hallucinations of him when getting a rush.”

Jacob was sad that all these truths were coming out, but he was pretty thankful. He did like Bella and enjoyed spending time with her. But now, finding out that she was mostly using him as a way to distract herself from thinking about a boy she’s in love with and finding ways just to see him? Things have slightly changed.

He takes a seat next to you on the stairs, sitting very close to you. His head turns to look at you, admiring you for a moment.

“(Y/N), look. I saw her reaction to when she got that call from Edward. If I knew she wasn’t so keen on pursuing something more with me, I wouldn’t have blown you off to spend so much time with her.”

“No, it’s great that you have a friendship with her, because for months, she wasn’t eating, going to school, anything. You were the only one to bring her out of that slump, thankfully. But she did tell me that you just happen to fill a void in her heart when you’re together, but it’s gone when she’s alone again.”

“And that’s why I want to hold your hand. I realize that no matter how hard I try, how much I wish, she won’t feel the same for me as she does for Edward,” he murmurs. You chuckle softly and shake your head, as if to rid the new thoughts that appeared with his confession.

“What?” He wonders, laughing quietly as well.

“Nothing. I just…” you taper off, wanting to say what’s on your mind but fearing the answer.

“I don’t want to be a second choice,” you admit. Jacob grows even more confused. “I don’t want you to suddenly like me and want to hang out again because Bella has no interest in anything more than a friendship with you.”

“(Y/N/N),” he begins. It was a nickname he used to call you all the time when you were younger. “It’s always been you. I’ve always had a crush on you. When Bella wanted to start hanging out, I was really reminiscent of the times we spent together before she left and before you came into my life. I’ve had a crush on you for years. And most times when I came to your family’s shop, it was because I just wanted to see you. Of course, my dad wanted his coffee and I wanted my hot chocolate and muffin, but you were the main reason I wanted to go.”

“Really?” You wonder, turning your head back to face him. He was staring at you intensely, a serious expression on his face.

“Yeah.” He carefully reaches for your hand once more, and this time, you let him. He entwines your fingers and tenderly rubs his thumb over the back of your hand.

“I’m sorry I ditched you for her. The last thing I want is the girl I truly care for hurting because of me.”

“Jake…” you trail off. He smiles and you notice his eyes dart down to your lips, a small grin threatening to break out onto his face. Getting the hint, you slowly lean in, more than ready to place your lips on his, when Bella suddenly appears with Mike.

“Hey, I’m guessing you two stayed until the movie was over,” she interrupts your moment. Jacob sighs deeply and nods, adjusting his body to sit straight forward. You awkwardly rub your hands against your jeans.

“Well, Mike is going home because he’s sick, he has the flu that Angela has, and uh, Edward finally called me, so I’m heading home to catch up with him.” There was a certain light in her eyes, one that read she was extremely happy to be back to normal. As if Jacob was nothing to her, confirming everything you told him.

“I’ll drive (Y/N) home then,” Jacob mumbles, not really in the mood to deal with Bella anymore. She chuckles and goes in for a hug, which he gladly accepts, but is quite distant.

“Come on,” he murmurs, reaching for your hand to help you get up. You take it and intertwine your hands with his as you four begin walking out of the theater.

Bella and Mike go one way while Jacob guides you to where he parked his truck. As much as you don’t want to let go of his hand, you do to hop inside, but when he is on the road and heading in the direction of your home, you grab it once more.

He smiles widely, happy that you weren’t too upset with him.

“Do you have to take me home?” You wonder, glancing over at him. He raises his eyebrows in curiosity.

“I mean, I thought the night was over.”

“Why don’t we go to that diner that you always talk about?” Jacob looks over at you, then down at your hands.

“Sounds good, darling.”

Your heart skips a beat at the nickname he’s already given you. Sure, he had a lot of nicknames for you, but nothing that was super lovey or cheesy.

The rest of the night was wonderful. You and Jacob caught up for an hour, laughing and enjoying each other’s company for the first time in a while. He got multiple texts from Bella, trying to apologize for running off and asking to see him tomorrow; he ignores every one.

On the drive home, you curl up next to Jacob’s side, holding his hand and resting your head on his shoulder. A smile remains painted on his face at the mere thought of you beside him, being so close to him.

He parks in front of your house, getting out to walk you up to your door.

“So, when can we see each other again?” He wonders. You chuckle and caress his bicep.

“How about next Tuesday night? I have nothing going on and I’m sure I can blow off schoolwork for you.” Jacob laughs and steps closer to you.

“Alright then. We can go back to the diner, or to another restaurant, or just take a scenic drive.”

“How about the diner, then a drive?” You offer. Jacob nods in agreement and shoves his hands in his pockets.

“Um, I don’t know if you are okay with…” he tapers off, although you know what he’s trying to say.

You take a step forward, standing on your tippy toes, and press your lips to his in a soft kiss. But that’s not enough for him. When you pull away, he cradles your cheek with his hand and brings you in for another one, one that’s a bit harder, a real kiss.

“I’ll, uh, see you Tuesday night then,” he gulps, flushing deeply by the kisses you just shared.
