jfc was the kid pretty young too?? like at a certain age/point in their growth, when you know your kid is responsible enough not to do anything/go anywhere stupid, when you know where they are and that they'll stay there or at least in that general area, then it's fine, but when they're not at that stage a lot of things could happen to them without you or someone you trust there and it's just... not a good idea

It wasn’t Dean’s “if we don’t talk about it, it didn’t happen.” attitude that bothered him. It was the constant flirting that Dean was rubbing his face in. When they got to school, it was Cassie. At lunch, it was Lisa. Now, Dean was leaned against the car, arms crossed to emphasis his muscles, speaking smoothly to Jo Harvelle.

Sam already felt like the scum of the earth, having a crush on his older brother, but this was just mean. Sam shook his head as Jo laughed softly and placed her hand on Dean’s arm, and turned back into the school. Dean had pushed him away. Looked shocked at him; like he hadn’t wanted it. Like Sam was a monster, a freak, for wanting it.

He was, though. It wasn’t like Sam didn’t know that. He thought Dean felt the same way though. The late night movie watches, the hair brushes, the “I’ll let you have the last crab rangoon but only this time, Sammy, honestly, they should put an even number of them in here.” that happened every time.

Sam walked into the boys’ bathroom and let his backpack drop to the tiled floor. He walked over and placed his hands on the side of the sink, clutching the porcelain tightly. He turned his face up and watched the tears slide down his cheeks, licking them when they got close enough to his lips.

As he tried to wipe away the tears and not think of how Jo Harvelle, prettiest cheerleader in the school, the nicest person anyone’s ever met, was flirting with his big brother, a song lyric ran through his head.

“The captain’s got his boots on and he’s heading out the door, leaving his lady alone, thinking, ‘He don’t love me no more.’ He’s done with all this bullshit, he’s going back to war. If heaven is as heaven does, then this is hell for sure.”

"You tired, baby?" Dean asked with a teasing light. Dean’s left arm hugged Sam to him, his right laying beside him, hand resting on the TV remote.

Sam murmured something quiet, burrowing deeper, and planting a small, lazy, kiss on Dean’s neck to show his sleepy affection. Dean smiled and pressed a kiss onto Sam’s floppy hair, “Love you, too, sweetheart. Get some sleep.” The TV’s low volume turned lower as Dean made them more comfortable for sleep.
