I don't know if you've been asked this yet, but what do the Twisted!Octotrio look like?

TWISTED!OCTATRIO ANON COME GET YO JUICE

I am a firm believer in Twisted!Jade and Twisted!Floyd not having legs and just floating around in their mer forms. They're like that one video of the remote control dolphin thing flying around a room. Twisted!Azul is also in his mer form, and normally just walks around using his tentacles, but can also do the swim-float thing if he wants to go faster.

As for what they specifically look like, they are from the deep ocean. Sunken eyes too small for their sockets, the twins each having one dead-looking milky grey eye each, wide mouths full of sharp teeth and secondary jaws.

Azul has a pharyngeal beak instead of another set of teeth like the twins, as well as sideways pupils. His tentacles are long and patterned like those of a mimic octopus, and his hair seems to always be moving about, as if it was simply tentacles as well.

The twins have markings all down their tails that can glow on and off, which seem to allow them to communicate short messages between themselves and Azul. They each have one anglerfish-like esca at the end of their tails that flickers whenever they're excited or trying to lure prey.

I keep thinking about Jade trying to make yuu more like them via mushroom mutations and I just wanna say if he finds out about the “eat me” cake then there's no going back, neither he or any of the twisted boys would help yuu fix their size so they can go back home

Honestly, it is a really good concept. It's Jade's own weird and honestly really dangerous way of wanting to protect Yuu, and if someone did find out and try to confront him about it, I think that would be a really interesting and heavy dialogue. It's a choice between Yuu being able to defend themself in this world where they are quite literally the most vulnerable creature in it or preserving what they already are because the changes could hurt them severely, even kill them. They are either ripped apart by the mutations, or are ripped apart by something or someone who doesn't fall for their human charms.

Despite the twisted boys occasionally sharing traits, they are still quite different compared to each other. The eel twins are a good example of this. They’re the same species, still semi aquatic, massive compared to Yuu and Grim, a heavy dose of Thalassophobia, but Jade’s the more comfortable of the two on land. Jade has a thicker mucus layer then his brother since his hobbies lead him to be a tad far from any water sources. Leaving his (and Vil’s) skin pretty soft in comparison to some of the others boys.. Yuu’s learned not to point this fact out least be dragged into a thorough investigation of the brother’s differences which normally end with someone having to fish their slime drenched body from out of their collective coils. At least they don’t have to pay for this top of the line skincare.

The first year squad are (frantically) looking for Yuu and once they look in Octavinelle they see the poor smol just smothered in eely bois and once they rescue them they gotta get out of there FAST because there are two very angery morays after them

I want to say that I’ve absolutely subscribed to your eldrich!twst au and I have a little tidbit of info to throw into the mix. In real life, Moray eels have what is essentially a second set of jaws at the back of their throats (called pharyngeal jaws) which they use to literally drag prey into their throats so they can swallow them. Now I’m imagining the Twisted!Jade and Twisted!Floyd having something like this.

Twisted! Jade has a bad habit of sneaking in mushrooms speculated to cause mutation into Yuu’s meals at the Monstro. They never do despite some of the boys panicking (Floyd had a bad time after sniffing out Jade’s plan and stealing Yuu’s food, the resulting bathroom run however was worth it). Most of the boys think it’s just Jade messing with them, but it’s deeper then that. Yuu’s human, tiny, small, fragile. And as much as the boys like them, they’ll eventually have to go home because it’s not safe here. But if Yuu was more like them, more adapted to wonderland, Floyd wouldn’t have to say goodbye to Shrimpy… and neither would Jade.

Oooh damn, yeah that's something he would definitely do. And when he's confronted and he gives that reason, the others realize that he has a point. They would hate to see Yuu so distorted, but them having to go home because they aren't safe in this world is worse.
