Okay. Since you specifically brought me up by name, I figured I would reach out to you.

 I want to clarify something, since I don't think you read it carefully. This is hardly was was said. I am making comparisons to a variety of situations where we consider removal of autonomy immoral. This was one of them. It wasn’t me saying that it was rape, just like I am pretty sure Luna and Noctis aren’t corporations. 

 You took one example of what society considers as unacceptable removal of autonomy, and you have tried to turn this into a straw-man argument.

If you are going to get mad, fine, but please do not misquote me. I understand that you don't like me quoting things, but since you opted to directly refer to me and my essay, I figured you may wish to reread.

Some seem to believe that abuse is classified as “person a hits/forces sex upon person b” and that is one type of abuse. But there are many types of abuse, in which this is actually considered abusive. It falls under “Withholding,” a non-physical abuse. This type of withholding can be classified under mental abuse.

You see, mental abuse can be classified as a lot of things. In a relationship, it can be considered abusive to withhold affection. It can be abusive to withhold finances. It can be abusive to withhold time, sleep, and yes—medical information. If we consider what Luna has done to Noctis just as denying Noctis the information about her own medical condition (the part where making the Covenants is killing her) that in and of itself is considered by many psychologists as abusive. By withholding information, we get back to the main issue with the pairing—autonomy.

I keep mentioning this word, and I want to make sure that everyone understands the meaning of autonomy. The meaning of autonomy is very, very simple: you are given the right and freedom of external control. Freedom to make your own choices. Denying someone the right of self-governance is abusive.

Even if we take a look at this through other relationships, we can see that society does in fact frown down upon the idea of withholding information. For example, if two companies are in the middle of a sale, and Company A withholds information that will affect Company B…. they legally have to release said information or end the contract. Doctors are not allowed to legally withhold information from a patient, and in only dire circumstances are people allowed to have details on their medical information not given to them (usually due to mental health issues.)

We even live in a world where “rape by deception” is a thing; you can not lie to someone to have sex with them. We even have laws on the books against people with HIV that even if they are on medication that makes the ability to infect another with HIV negligible, not revealing their status is considered illegal. If we look at it legally, when you enter into a marriage while withholding information that will directly affect the other partner, this is grounds for immediate annulment.

It is human nature to believe in the importance of autonomy, no matter the circumstances. We can’t sit here and say that there isn’t something akin to emotional abuse going on in terms of the relationship between Noctis and Luna when we realize that she has removed his autonomy on multiple facets.

Now, here is something people do not tend to think about before they start screaming: Being abusive does not necessarily mean that the person, Luna, is bad. It means their actions are bad and that their logic is flawed.

Well-intentioned withholding denies a person the rights to make their own decision, whatever those decisions may be, and is classified as abusive. You cannot legally or morally take away autonomy from another person. This is the main point I have been making.  

That is right—abusive behavior can be done by anyone. It does not necessarily mean that Luna needs to be punching Noctis to be abusive. She doesn’t even need to be aware of her actions for them to be abusive. The simple act of her doing something to deny Noctis his autonomy, no matter the intent, ends up with her creating the unfortunate connections of an abusive relationship. Intent means nothing when it affects another person.

Power and knowledge imbalances are in fact considered unhealthy in relationships. The dynamic between romantic partners is meant to put two people on equal footing with equal knowledge.

And this, unfortunately, is not a nuance that a lot of people realize. Intent does not mean it is not unhealthy, let alone not abusive.

I know people may think that the use of the word abusive is incorrect, but again, as I have stated, in the strictest terms possible it is considered as such. And if you don’t want to go as far as saying it is abusive, it is at least considered HIGHLY unhealthy.

As someone who was raped in university (which I have been very open with and you can read about it on my blog) I find it disingenuous that you would take a comment out of context in hopes to push your narrative. 

 You are allowed to disagree with me, but I believe autonomy is the basis of humanity. And while stating various ways autonomy is important, I mentioned several examples in daily life as to the importance of autonomy and how we as a people do not accept removal of autonomy. I am sorry if the comment somehow offended you.

And I have no idea who you know who has come to me with opposing opinions, because I can only think of two.... both of which ended positively. We may not agree, but I do believe every person has a valid opinion and they are allowed to have it. 

 Now, I don't know who you are. I have never spoken to you, and I didn't even know about you personally until a friend sent me your link. I don't believe in bullying, I believe in logical debates with facts and reasoning. 

 You seem to have very twisted opinions of me, none of which come from personal experience. If you would like to speak to me, my page is open and I am willing to have a conversation with you, just as I would with anyone else as long as they did it without bringing ad hominem attacks into it. 

I understand that people can be passionate about things, but there is no reason to be outright cruel.

I refuse to allow people to twist what I say. I am against bullying people. I do not tolerate it and have never "chased" someone off anything. I have called a handful of people for telling others to kill themselves or outright lying about me. 

I am not okay with bullies. And you are an ignorant bully.

Do not misquote people then expect them to sit back and let you do it.

im hopinh that its actually gladio being worried he wont be strong enough to protect those he cares about due to ravus overpowering him, which makes iggy getting hurt even sadder cause im sure gladio just feels fucking fantastic about not being able to protect ppl he cares about

This is three days late but I agree. As much as I find cup noodle jokes funny I really don’t want him to be aggressive muscle noodle man so I hope it is him feeling inadequate after Ravus just threw him off.
