Love is devotion.
And it's also carrying your wife to bed when she falls asleep in yours.

One weekend in 1968, Paul arrived in L.A. on some Apple business. Of course, it's not all work and no play when Macca is in town. According

I went into one room and then I went into another. I was in a room inside a room. There I felt safe.

“Your Song” - the first track on the A-side of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s second album, Elton John (1970)
"Your Song” was released as the B-side to the single “Take Me To The Pilot.” However, radio DJs played “Your Song” more often, and so it became the A-side. “Your Song” was Elton John’s first major hit, reaching #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart and #7 on the U.K. singles chart.
“What can I say, it's a perfect song. It gets better every time I sing it. I remember writing it at my parents' apartment in North London, and Bernie giving me the lyrics, sitting down at the piano and looking at it and going, "Oh, my God, this is such a great lyric, I can't fuck this one up." It came out in about 20 minutes, and when I was done, I called him in and we both knew.” - Elton John: My Life in 20 Songs
“Your Song” has been covered by numerous artists.
Notable versions and covers:
Three Dog Night - on the album It Ain’t Easy (1970) - released prior to Elton John’s own release of the song. Apparently Three Dog Night never released it as a single themselves because they wanted to give Elton John the chance to release it as a single himself
Billy Paul - on the album Me And Mrs. Jones (1972)
Rod Stewart - on the tribute album Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin (1991)
Ewan McGregor - in the film Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Ellie Goulding - on the album Bright Lights (2010)
Lady Gaga - on the tribute album Revamp: Reimagining the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin (2018)
Taron Egerton - in the film Rocketman (2019)
