A few years ago I read a book published by Two Dollar Radio, and I knew I needed to read more books from them. I’d had this book on my TBR for awhile, but my library didn’t get a copy until recently. So I had to check it out.
When I heard there was essentially a murder junkie vampire novel, I knew I had to read it. I’m not a GG fan myself, but I did think that a story revolving around a group of these nihilistic skids would be really entertaining.
The writing is gorgeous, it really is beautiful, but this is a book that’s all flowery wording and little substance. There is a lot of fucking in supermarket break rooms, and taking drugs, and going to hardcore shows, but it lacks a cohesive narrative that is anything aside from an experiment with language.
I have no clue how much time goes on, in this book, it’s just a loop of destructive behaviour.
Saying that I didn’t hate it, but I really was left wanting or expecting more.
