12. what are your character’s major flaws?

Ty-Trying to save someone that’s completely gone to the point of excusing violent, painful deaths.Kayla-She’s a ghoul. Her entire being is a giant ass flaw. Prior to the whole dying thing, it was definitely that she always bit off more than she could possibly chew

15. what is your character afraid of?

Ty-Losing Kay completely. She’s pretty much all he has left and he feels like it’s his fault that she’s a ghoul.Kayla-Not a goddamn thing. She literally feels mostly nothing. The only reason she doesn’t try to eat Ty’s face is he’s the only thing standing between her and not existing. She’s not even afraid of dying again, she just doesn’t like the idea of it. Eating human flesh makes her feel more like who she was, but it’s short lived and pretty remorseless.

I know, but I felt like I needed to say something, otherwise it would have just been a cop-out. But yeah, he always wanted Cersei to be a queen, and for there to be Lannisters of some description on the throne, but he himself probably has more power and maneuverability as Lord of the Westerlands and potential Hand (and, of course, piggy bank) rather than having to maintain a spectacle for the people.

But he does think he's more competent than all other rivals combined (even if he's not really).

But then again, he likes the status quo - he continued to support Aerys even after he was becoming more and more unstable, it was only after the insults to his pride that he was 'taken ill' and resigned. So if Aerys hadn't taken Jaime, then Tywin may have continued to serve him, since he believes in the traditional monarchy, or at least the line of succession (depends on if you think he'd have supported Rhaegar over Aerys).

Are there any recent/daily thoughts they have on death/dying?

I wouldn’t call it ‘recent’, more significant - I have a personal headcanon that he got into theology a bit more after Joanna’s death (partly why he’s so disillusioned now), and he was working out the probability of them being together after death…which is next to nil, unless if TWOIAF gives us anything more concrete on the Faith of the Seven. I think I’m right in saying that there are Seven Hells, and Seven Heavens…Tywin has a very realistic view of himself, but a potentially unrealistic view of Joanna, so he’d think it very unlikely that they would be reunited. So, as is Tywin’s way, he blames the Faith, and turns away from it.

Day 15: Who is their closest friend, and why? What do they like to do with this person? Do they have any rivals? Who and why? Have they ever been betrayed? By who, and how did it affect them?

Joanna is probably his closest friend - she understands that he does what has to be done, and she supports him. She gave him his children, who he loves in his way, but also sees as tools to further his goal. The whole "I am a knight, and Cersei is a queen" thing.

I think Aerys saw Tywin as a rival (but then, he saw everyone like that, so whatever)...but I don't think Tywin really reciprocated? He 'knows his place', so to speak - his daughter would be able to marry into the royal family, but he himself would never really compete, except in extreme circumstances. But in a general sense, I don't think Tywin feels like he has real rivals, because he's in a class of his own. The Starks and Tullys are constrained by their much-vaunted honour. The Iron Islanders can only harry coasts, and pretty much everyone hates them anyway, so there's a common enemy. House Baratheon seem to mind their own business, in the sense that Robert just drank and whored, so he didn't even try to compete. Dorne's always been a wild card, so he probably just tries to put them 'out of sight, out of mind' for the most part. And the Tyrells are upstarts, no matter how cunning, and Tywin believes that noble blood will prevail and all that shit.

Uh...by his children? Jaime and Cersei's relationship could spell the end of House Lannister, and it also personally betrays his more conservative values and values of family.

Day 14: Do they, or have they in the past, had a mentor? What was their relationship with this person, and how has it changed since then? What sort of education have they had? Do they want more? Who was their idol growing up? Who was the first person they fantasized about?

I think that's kind of the point with Tywin's formative years - he didn't have an idol. His father was largely incomptent--if a very nice bloke, by all accounts--and Aerys' paranoia would have also been alienating. So he really hasn't had anyone - as far as any lord in Westeros can be a 'self-made man', Tywin is. Because House Lannister couldn't possibly get any lower than it was in 260AC (Reyne-Tarbeck shindig).

He would have had a standard education, delivered by a maester, that prepared him for his responsibilities as a lord and liege lord. He would have probably supplemented that himself by reading historical accounts of other successful lords and emulating their policies.

Day 5:  Resources and abilities: Where did they learn their abilities? From a maester/tutor, depending on the verse, most likely. He would have also been perfectly placed at court to watch other successful (or not-so-successful) lords transact business with each other...he would have also got a feel for who would be worthy of who in terms of marriage contracts...so partly book-learning, partly experience, I'd say.

If they have an income, where does it come from? Mines, mostly, and taxes from his bannermen, which are accorded to individual means. Show!canon that the mines have run out is bullshit, in my humble opinion. And even if they had, Tywin wouldn't have sat on his arse complaining to Cersei about it. He's a business man, he does whatever is necessary for the family's continued prosperity and survival. *rant over*

Do they have a job? Do they like it? How do they feel about their co-workers? Well, I don't think he really has any 'co-workers', so to speak - he's in a league of his own, in terms of overt power (Littlefinger wins covertly), and he just feels a general disdain for the so called 'lesser houses'.

Day 4: Favorites and habits: Modern!verse What are some of your character’s hobbies? What do they do with their time? Probably watches the global stock markets? Or maybe reads about historical politics and economics? I can't exactly see him watching Dynasty or something like that.

Favorite color? Red or gold - Lannister colours.

Favorite music artists? Something classical or jazzy, at a push. Something smooth and sophisticated, like Seal, or any traditional orchestral pieces.

Movies or TV shows? I actually think he'd like watching something action-packed but classic, like the Godfather or Reservoir Dogs, because it would be far enough from reality to be enjoyable (he wouldn't like watching 'The Wolf of Wall Street', for instance) while still being classic.

Books or authors? Niccolo Machiavelli.

Actors? N/A?

Political stance? Are they active in politics or do they not care? Conservative in terms of racism and sexism (everyone has their place etc), but potentially more radical in terms of economics: since his Banking Group has foreign interests, an isolationist/conservative policy wouldn't be in his best interests.

What are some of their pet peeves? Lateness, sloppiness, rudeness.

What sort of gifts do they like? Expensive, but not gaudy. Something timeless that won't go out of fashion - everything should be an investment. (The Cersei I have in mind for my modern verse, as a socialite interested in the fashion industry, would be pretty much the opposite)

What is their favorite time of day? Early morning, when all the idiots haven't made it to the office yet.

Favorite weather? Rainy - all the better to look at a computer screen by.

Season? Winter - for a 'Southerner', he's strangely fond of snowstorms. (It's another part of the 'power complex' thing)

Where do they like to spend their time? At work? I don't think he'd like to go home, being reminded that Joanna isn't there and the children are.

Favorite food? Favorite drink? Hot drinks, soft drinks, or alcohol? Something expensive, with small portions because he's pretty health-conscious (he recognises that he leads a pretty sedentary lifestyle, so he minimises his intake). He takes his coffee black like his soul, and doesn't tend to drink much else, given the ridiculously long hours he works.

Favorite animal? Lion? Because that (in my headcanon) is on the logo of the Bank, so that would represent all sorts of things to him: security, prosperity, reputation, power...just a few of his favourite things ♪

Do they have any pets? Do they want any? Ew, no. Pets need affection and attention that Tywin can't spare....because he doesn't have a fully functioning heart.

What relaxes them? Probably work - he's a relatively anxious person, so knowing that he has that kind of routine and structure makes him happy.

Do they have any bad habits? Aside from being a dickhead? Uh, I imagine him being that person who always drums their fingers on the table really impatiently.
