The leash male coaches have in the WNBA compared to female coaches, ESPECIALLY black women coaches is disgusting and sickening.
I’ve only been a WNBA fan for a few years now but I feel the need to report every thing I’ve witnessed just the past few years.
Chicago: What a joke of an organization. You give Tspoon last year a rebuilding roster that far exceeded expectations and was in playoff position until Angel had a shoulder injury. She gets fired after one season. Then Tyler who has LESS wins in a LONGER season with a better roster gets another chance.
Phoenix: in 2023 they started horribly and they fired their coach mid season. There might have been some other off the court issues that led to this girls firing but then the interim head coach (Nikki Blue i think was her name) had a much better second half of the season with the team. She is a black woman and wasn’t asked to be the head coach. Instead they hire Nate Tibbets - a white man that has never been involved with women’s basketball or a head coach before and his qualification was “girl dad”. He even admitted this year that the only reason he looks so good as a coach is because of Alyssa Thomas. His incompetency at the end of the season led to a 3 game losing streak ultimately costing AT MVP (not that she was guaranteed to win it anyways but that losing streak really hurt it).
Dallas: they fire their head coach Latrecia Trammel after two seasons, her first was really good and her second disasterous BUT she got their star player Arike to buy into playing defense. Then comes in man bun who they hire over LISA LESLIE. Mind you man bun is a finance bro who only first started in wbb because he was a videographer. They have just as bad of a season and waive multiple players who THRIVE on other GOOD teams showing how bad of a coach he is. Nothing.
Then we have Sandy who won a championship last year for the Liberty and while NY had a bad season, I can promise that man bun or girl dad wouldn’t have gotten fired for that. Same with Noelle Quinn’s season - they wouldn’t have gotten fired, however, Seattle has been disappointing these past few seasons. Tanisha Wright (a black woman) was also fired from Atlanta after 3 seasons, but she also did not help her players really.
But the Sandy & TSpoon firing while Tyler, girl dad & man bun get to ride in peace is just so disturbing to me especially since this is a WOMENS league. It makes me so angry. I’m sure there are more coaches that I don’t know about.
Chicago Sky's coach, Tyler Marsh, reacts to a clear no-call by the refs. He was immediately ejected.

Tyler Marsh has officially signed a multi-year contract to take on the role of Head Coach for the Chicago Sky.
Marsh joins the Sky with an impressive background, having previously served as Assistant Coach and Head of Player Development for the Las Vegas Aces. His tenure with the Aces was marked by success, as he contributed to the team’s back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. Marsh’s expertise in player development and his championship experience bring a promising new chapter to the Chicago Sky’s future.
Skylar Diggins is set to sit out a fourth straight game when the Chicago Sky face the Seattle Storm tomorrow.
Head coach Tyler Marsh says there is still no timetable for her return.
