More often than not, Tyler is full of energy and can be seen working in his fields/around the animals that he is raising. When he’s not doing that, he’s looking after his daughter or trying to be part of the community by joining various events or “after work” activities. However, whilst that helps his overall charming and fun personality shine, that also means that he can withhold the bad things, the critique, letting it build up until it’s too much. After all, it’s one of the reasons why his first marriage failed eventually, and despite the divorce haven taken place four years ago, he’s still struggling with improving that side of his personality.

Being a jock in the small town of Merrock, in what others would often see the middle of nowhere was a cliché, but that was exactly what Tyler was, a cliché. He didn’t mind that, and, instead, opted to do as good as possible. Never one to excel in the arts of academics, Tyler instead focused on building connections – which seemed to come easy to him – and playing whatever sports he wanted to at the time, living his life with somewhat easiness and chill. It was only natural that he ended up catching the eye of one of the most beautiful girls in the school, Ines Vazquez. 

Just as much as Tyler was a cliché, so was his love story. He fell for Ines quickly and deeply, and the two became inseparable. It made sense that they went to their homecoming, to their graduation parties together; it made sense that Tyler followed Ines to California soon after both of them were done with their studies. That was when their differences began to show, however. Tyler wanted a calm and peaceful life, finding a nice little farm to work in in California, whilst Ines was after fame and stardom. Nothing could stop her in her path, and Tyler did whatever he could to please her, all the while compromising on his own wishes. Proposal and marriage soon followed them, a natural part of such a seemingly epic love story.

The next natural step was having children, and whilst cracks were beginning to show in their marriage, they still went with it. The moment Tyler laid his eyes on Marisol; the moment he got to hold her was when he knew that he had finally met his one true love. His daughter was his life, and he spent just about any free moment he had with her, showing her life, watching her grow into a wonderful little human being.

So, when divorce became the next step- and a conclusion- in Ines’ and Tyler’s love story, it made sense that he asked for full custody of their daughter. There was no bad blood between the two of them, and whilst it somewhat hurt that Ines didn’t fight to gain custody of her daughter, it also made sense. Not everyone was made to be a parent, and that day, Tyler decided that he would be the best and the only parents Marisol would have.

With nothing else holding him back in California, Tyler packed up his and his daughter’s bags and moved back to Merrock. To many, it perhaps would’ve been a step back to return to their hometown, but Tyler wanted Marisol to see the place her parents had grown up in, to experience things he had when he was her age. Having just enough money to buy a small, albeit cosy and old farmhouse, Tyler worked hard to build a business and a home for himself. Over the years, he began to sell fruits, vegetables, eggs and various goats’ milk products in the local farmer’s market, making everything all by himself. It wasn’t much - the quantities he sold were enough to support himself and Marisol- but it was something that he was genuinely enjoying. Finally, able to be part of the community he liked so much, Tyler felt at home once more, and whilst the next chapter in his life was waiting for him and eagerly knocking on his door, he wasn’t rushing into anything.
