it's 2021, your favorite artist has one of the most recognizable faces on planet earth.

every album cover is seen on a 50x50 pixel thumbnail next to its title and artist in a music streaming app 90% of the time.

when it comes to buying physical copies, most people a. already know the artist and don’t need to read their names on the cover and b. are most likely doing it online where, again, the artist’s name and album title are right next to it.

unless it’s some sort of intricate lettering or calligraphy work there is absolutely NO GOOD REASON for the title to be on the cover, esp. when it’s going to be unreadable in very small renditions most times people are interacting with that piece. it creates a. noise in the composition (unless it’s intentional, like in reputation, unreadable text is usually… best avoided) and b. is generally just redundant information.
