hi, i wanted your take on this ^^ i dont want to start a fight really.

please don't be mean but i feel like some people have every right to be racist/xenophobic

i live in a country (i wont say but you can guess probably, if you did guess i still dont want u to state it, please.) where a bunch of refugees came in(i mean like 2 million or more), and most of them are misogynistic, dangerous or straight up r-pists or murderers. people (i aswell) are SCARED of being around them and avoid them when they see them.

its been going on for a few years, whilst i wouldn't harrass a person for being x race i still wouldnt hang around them now because of how ingrained this hatred is probably.

back then when we thought of x race we only thought of people living in that country, now it only reminds people of harmful individuals ://

Nobody gets a "right" to be racist or xenophobic.

TL;DR: Not one person gets a right to be racist or xenophobic, as the worse people are always minorities in a race, and no ones race causes them to become a rapist, a murderer, a misogynist, or dangerous. Do not assume that if you hear about 10, 20, 100, or 1000 rapists/misogynists/dangerous persons/murderers all of the same race, that suddenly means everyone else in that race is also one, or approves of such.

I am sorry if this sounds "mean" but I'm not going to sugarcoat this if that is what you meant.

People are not misogynistic, dangerous, rapists (never censor rapist by the way, especially on tumblr because people who do need that censored cannot, or it is harder to censor, when there is breaks in the word.), and murderers because they were born a certain place.

You have a right to be afraid of murderers and rapists, yes, but you don't have a right to be afraid of someone who *could* be a murderer or rapist just because they're apart of a race that has rapists and murderers (which is every race.)

And for the last part, you have internalized racism and xenophobia. Which is something that can be worked on. As you said, it is an ingrained hatred spawned out of a minority of bad people. The worst people always yell the loudest, which is why you need to know how to acknowledge that yelling, and also know the people just talking are the majority.

Yes, anyone would feel uncomfortable or avoid standing next to a convicted or confirmed rapist or standing next to a former or even current murderer, but once assumption and generalization starts, something needs to change. That is simply the truth.

I have a big playlist of non English songs, because music is music and if it slaps I don’t care what the language is (also bc I’m Italian, so I’d understandably know Italian songs) there’s 10 different languages in there all together (call me Mr worldwide, coming for pitbull’s title /j), I’ve had this playlist for years, play it all the time, add to it whenever I find a funky non English song. The amount of times in high school someone would see the song on my phone screen or hear it from my headphones and go “what the hell even is that?” “But you can’t even understand that” etc etc. girl,,, music is music. If it slaps, I don’t give a fuck what language it’s in. You’re barring yourself from some amazing music if you refuse to listen to songs just because you can’t understand the language.

Reform UK blaming everything on “illegal immigrants”. saying people from other countries are all violent terrorist rapists, supporting ICE style deportations, making up statistics to make immigrants look bad, saying immigrants are “invading” britain and saying that immigrants are taking everyone’s money and are the reason for all problems. it is to the point I am terrified that if they win a genocide will happen.

People complaining about the number of immigrants in Canada (a country known for being a safer place for immigrants), I’ve seen people be like “oh you can’t go to a Tim Hortons without seeing an Indian work there” and it’s like yeah??? Because Tim Hortons is an entry level and widely available job in Canada??? For people who have just moved here and need to support their families by getting the most accessible job they can at the moment??? Use your brains, people.

My friend was white and spoke English reasonably well, so the school didn’t get a translator for her. She was going to be a sophomore in the USA, so they asked her for her high school records.

In our language, higher school is an intense academic program focusing on scholarly jobs, like being a researcher or a doctor. Our country’s years don’t even fit well with the USA’s grades. She didn’t realize that they were asking for her school records.

So she said she had none. This led to a lot of drama and paperwork and confusion. She ended up starting school a month later than she should have.

This could be xenophobia? Not enough context is given to determine.

When I was younger and had recently learned that some countries have Christmas in summer, i remember telling my mother about it. I cant recall if I specifically said "in the southern hemisphere", "in Australia" (most common example people use) or just said "some countries".

My mother replied with something that translates to the energy of "yeah, they're fucking crazy and insane then!" which. Aside from the Xenophobia against the southern hemisphere (and ig not acknowledging the science behind the earth turning and rotating around the sun etc causing summer and winter AT THE SAME TIME) that's also Saneist to talk that way about people 😭
