Nipples for newborn babies (0-6 months) and nipples designed for babies (6-12) are designed differently. The feeding bottle nipple for older babies have slightly larger holes so that it also becomes easier to feed them formula if required. Preemie nipples for younger babies have smaller holes in their nipple so that just the right amount of milk is suckled by the baby without the fear of them gagging or choking due to too much consumption.
