Milestone
For a kid who doesn't talk, and probably fears it, J went up to a favored classmate and said, "I want to play tic-tac-toe please" in that not-quite monotone way. Said classmate got excited that she was asked that she was happy to play. She knew it was a milestone for J.
We need more empathetic classmates who knows what not to take for granted in other kids. :-)
