Enzo hasn't boxed in a while.
He's a little old for it and, after his injury, he isn't as good as he used to be. Doesn't mean he can't teach someone else though.
Recently, one of his neighbours has asked for fighting lessons. The guy's pretty scrawny but he's got a lot of potential. Plus, he brings some fantastic cornbread to the potlucks. No harm in teaching him how to throw a punch.
"No, kid, you gotta follow through," he explains to him, demonstrating once more, throwing a light punch into the air. "Y'see?"
Andrew nods, fixing his stance and trying again, only to make the same mistake, though he notices it this time. "I think it would help if I actually had something to punch, Mr. Pantazis," he mentions.
"Guess you're right..." he says, trailing off thoughtfully. "You could punch me if you want?"
"Oh no no no, I couldn't do– What if I hurt you?"
Enzo chuckles. "Trust me, kid, you won't."
Andrew seems hesitant, even as Enzo stands in front of him with arms open. "Just do it, Andy."
Taking a deep breath, Andrew closes his eyes and punches Enzo square in the stomach, panicking a little when he hears Enzo start coughing.
"That– That was good, kid," he manages between coughs. "Now with yer eyes open."
"But you sound like you're dying.."
"I jus' smoke too much, kid, it ain't yer fault."
And somehow, that's enough to make Andrew feel a little better.
