Even the house knows Alex never does anything just to be nice. Is this an invitation, or is it a trap?

The days flew by gradually erasing the loneliness of the beginnings...
Aaliyah took Ren under her wing; she's talkative, but that's not annoying Ren they share also many classes together. Tom and Ren usually end up being the last ones to leave the apartment since Ren starts his day later and Tom is... well, perpetually late.
In sharing a room, , Ren and Alex ofter walked in silence, yet Ren felt at ease...
The sun was barely up on Saturday the 30th when the kitchen exploded into a flurry of activity. 9:45 AM
Ren stumbled into the room, his hair messy and eyes half-closed probably woken up by the noise
Ren: huh, what's going on?
Tom, already radiating his usual golden-retriever energy, singing energetically
Tom : THIS IS HALLOWEEN—
Tom : Oh Ren you wake up! tomorrow's Halloween of course so we're scrubbing and decorating!
Michael looked bored, though the slight glint in his eyes betrayed his secret excitement for the upcoming party. Peter was hunched over, clutching his forehead.
Peter : Urgh, my head is going to explode...
Alex : he forgot Tom, leave him alone.
Tom continued talking without listening to Alex
Tom : Of course, Ren! You can invite whoever you want, Tom said with a wink and a peace sign. The more the merrier, right?
As the talk turned to the guest list, Ren felt a familiar knot of apprehension tightening in his chest. The idea of a house filled with strangers for the party was overwhelming.
Ren : ... Maybe I'll ask Aaliyah to come...
Standing in the corner, Alex had been silently observing Ren with intensity. Suddenly, he broke his silence, his deep voice cutting through the kitchen chatter.
Alex : Ren, you look a bit overwhelmed, Alex noted, his gaze never wavering.
Alex : How about we head out somewhere together later?
The kitchen went dead silent. "WHAAAAAAATT?!" erupted from Tom, Peter, and Michael in perfect, shocked unison.
Tom leaned toward Michael, his voice a frantic whisper:
Tom : Wait... did Alex actually just propose something of his own volition? To another human being?
Michael : We must believe that, yes ; he replied, while Peter simply nodded in disbelief.
Ren felt the heat rise to his cheeks, completely caught off guard by the invitation.
Ren : Um... oh? Well, I... yes, why not? He stammered, avoiding the burning stares of his housemates.
Something shifted in the house that morning, and everyone knew it...
