Load-bearing information on Cecelia is that her parents were (New York) Loyalists during the RevWar
Even sitting, he was a noticeably tall man, though this state made up the difference and he did not yet tower over me. He did not appear unusually or unreasonably tall, but from what little I knew sailors tended to be of the shorter variety, though why was unclear to me. He was thin and pale, as if in all the years he’d been at sea the sun had sucked the color from his face rather than add to it, though certainly the dark, high-collared coat he wore did him no favors. On a harder look, a blush did adorn his cheeks, and he certainly was not of an ivory white complexion, though still paler than the marked sailors I happened upon on occasion, and the ones in my memory. As they were, his hair was long and tied back in a neat queue. Certainly it was a surprise to see, and had I not been told before I may have been shocked, but I was well informed; Susannah found it amusing, and her husband found it embarrassing. His hair was lightened and streaked with age, though still a pleasing fawn color, as were his eyes when they met my face. They were sharp, softened but not dulled by age, which held true for the rest of his body which I did deign to glance about. “Miss,” he said softly by way of greeting as he stood, unfolding himself in a nearly awkward manner, in a quiet sort of voice that still managed to sound like gravel tumbling about itself. This surprised me, for his voice sounded as if it could belong to someone far younger, not the austere man I saw before me with his old fashions and deliberate movements. He bowed shallowly, and his eyes darted to the side as if he was unsure the gesture was proper.
I wanna try writing more character descriptions like this, it was fun

Thinking about William & Artemas falling in love... They really don't have a definite before & after to their relationship, it's just a steady build and at some point they're in love and then William is taken as a PoW and they don't see each other for four years
I really wish that I could have Cecelia join William on Osprey for a day while she's in port but it's just not in his character to do that. I think it'd be so interesting to have their (emotional) power dynamic flip and for him to be in complete control for a moment and to allow her to see the realest version of him that she'll ever be exposed to... Only for it to disappear again the moment he's off her deck
Going through my Google Docs and found this fic from a few months ago (they're talking about Edward) [PoV of Osprey's second lieutenant, Joseph Steele]
Thinking about William & Artemas walking in lockstep... Perfectly in time, same stride length, in perfect unison because they've spent so many years together it's simply second nature...
Mmmm I do think the early Co2 days are really interesting and I should give them some thought. Because obviously there's a while, probably a few years, where Artemas doesn't really like William as a man and they don't get along because William can be so cruel. And I think at this point William would probably target some of Artemas' foppish, aristocratic tendencies because it's easy to pick at and convenient for him as a lower class man. I think his adopting Edward would be the real turning point in their dynamic because now Artemas is actually exposed to a different shade of him, but a bit before then is when they're starting to be more friendly and paving the way of Artemas to be a pseudo-father to Edward
