U-96 VIIC Commanded by Frigattenkapitan Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock he was ranked as the 6th in the ranks of U-Boat aces. He is famous because one of his patrols was recorded by reporter Lothar Gunther Bochheim, this would form the basis for the TV series Das Boot. Willenbrock would survive the war
