i'll talk abt jin and gideon bc even though he has a rlly interesting relationship with irena thats also spoilers </3

jin and gideon are both the fuck around to yda and hannes' find out, and the main reason jin is even on the expedition in the first place is that he finds gideon entertaining and wants to see what he'll do next in a watching lobsters fighting each other in a tank before they get boiled alive kind of way. jin antonnik also isn't jin's real name—he's only gone by that for a few years, ever since he tried a particular drink at a hergenish bar and thought it would be funny to start calling himself a variation of it. to put it simply, jin is bored. he's bored and really fucking tired, and he's wanted to die ever since he lost the ability to do so. gideon is the most interesting person he's met in a long time, and if getting the chance to watch him up close means playing nice for a while, he'll do it. gideon thinks jin is batshit insane (he's kinda right) but fuck if he isn't the best pilot and navigator he's met, and he'll deal with a guy whose outline flickers more often than not and whose mouth sometimes looks like it's split from ear-to-ear and who he's never, never seen bleed if he'll have jin's talents on his side.

doing this for vasilisa and galina bc i miss them 😭

vasilisa is emotionally repressed and has spent so long being taught to be a stone cold bitch that a cute girl is nice to her one (1) time and she has a meltdown and pretty much falls in love at first sight !! galina has FRECKLES and she SMILES SO PRETTY and it doesnt matter if shes a witch's apprentice bc she gives vasilisa a flower that she grows in the palm of her own hand (which is where shes got vasilisa at this point) and tells her she's pretty and vasilisa almost fucking blacks out like the touch-starved assigned-fairytale-heroine-at-birth dumbass she is. galina meanwhile is surprisingly well-adjusted for being a foundling raised by baba fucking yaga and is kinda just bemused by it all. vasilisa really is super pretty though so she definitely doesn't mind the attention even if she thinks vasilisa really needs to take everything down by like . 10 notches
