168. First Meditation

I know that I am pure spirit, that I always have been, and that I always will be. There is inside of me a place of confidence and quietness and security where all things are known and understood. This is the Universal Mind, God, of which I am part and which responds to me as I ask of it. This Universal Mind knows the answer to all of my problems, and even now the answers are speeding their way to me. I needn't struggle for them; I needn't worry or strive for them. When the time comes, the answers will be there. I give my problems to the great mind of God; I let go of them, confident that the correct answers will return to me when they are needed. Through the great law of attraction, everything in life that I need for my work and fulfillment will come to me. It is not necessary that I strain about this, only believe. For in the strength of my belief, my faith will make it so. I see the hand of divine intelligence all about me, in the flower, the tree, the brook, the meadow. I know that the intelligence that created all these things is in me and around me and that I can call upon it for my slightest need. I know that my body is a manifestation of pure spirit and that spirit is perfect; therefore my body is perfect also. I enjoy life, for each day brings a constant demonstration of the power of wonder of the universe and myself. I am confident. I am serene. I am sure. No matter what obstacle or undesirable circumstance crosses my path, I refuse to accept it, for it is nothing but illusion. There can be no obstacle or undesirable circumstance to the mind of God, which is in me, and around me, and serves me now.

"Three Magic Words": Excerpt #5

I would like to share another selection from U.S. Andersen's Three Magic Words, which was written back in 1954, but which contains many universal truths that transcend eras and generations. I hope you continue to enjoy these passages as much as I enjoy sharing them with you, and if so, you might consider purchasing the book yourself, because there is far more within than I could share in these posts.

Mental healing and creation of circumstance and form through thought may never be accomplished by him whose consciousness is one of separateness.  But he who achieves the consciousness of the whole, the consciousness of God, may change form and circumstance and promote bodily healing through thought, for all things then will exist within him.

REALITY VERSUS DELUSION

What remarkable phenomena are the myriad forms about us.  Mountains, trees, brooks, seas, meadows, the infinite varieties of  animal and vegetable life, the innumerable combinations of minerals, the astounding mechanistic forms made by the hands and ingenuity of man -- their variety and number are awesome. Yet we pass them by, regarding them as natural and normal in the scheme of things, giving little or no heed to whence they have come and of what they are made. How sure we often are in our little moments in our little lives in our little material worlds. We attach our fleeting securities to the  forms around us, vainly try to build up a sense of permanence in a  constantly changing material world, forgetting the enigma of our births and the inevitability of our deaths as we put our main goals  on the accumulation of wealth and goods. Yet all form is made of the same basic substance as ourselves, pure and eternal intelligence, the Universal Subconscious Mind; and that mind and all it contains lies within each of us.

THE MIGHTY TOOL

Form proceeds from mind, and mind controls all, and this knowledge  properly applied can change your life. No longer need you batter at circumstance and things; no longer need you rail at the dealings of fate or frustrate your life against unwanted circumstance.  Everything proceeds from mind, everything proceeds from thought; and miracles are wrought in quiet hours in still rooms when awakened souls harken their divinity.

You, as a person, know you exist because you think, and these thoughts of yours are far and away the most important thing you do; they are, in fact, the only thing you do. These thoughts of yours  are the essence that makes form, that brings circumstance; they are your sole tool with which to expand your consciousness. Accordingly, there is no more paramount thing for you to do than carefully select those thoughts that you will think, those beliefs you will adopt, those attitudes you will take for your own, for by them you will be what you will be; by them you have arrived exactly where you are today. If you mean for your life to be progressive and full of achievement, vigor, love, and abundance, you will abandon each negative thought the  moment it is presented to you. You will refuse to accept on the plane of mind any conception other than those that are in tune with good.  You will think only positively!  And the universe will shower you with more good than you ever dreamed.

THE INFALLIBLE LAW

You must understand that the teachings of this book are not to be regarded as patent medicines or wonder drugs, things that work most of the time, or some of the time, or not at all. The law this book teaches works all of the time and nothing or nobody on the face of the earth is big enough to stop it from working. We didn't make this law. We neither start it nor stop it. Our only purpose here is to impart to you a knowledge of its existence and methods of using it. The law works one hundred percent of the time.  It never fails.  If you apply  it to achieve success and you meet with failure, it isn't the law that has failed -- it is you! You have simply failed to do the one thing it is necessary for you to do to obtain the slightest good and that is to think only positively of that good.  If an opposite develops, it has developed because you have been more convinced of it than you have of the good you want, and the law has still worked as it always must.

The cynic is his own worst enemy. It requires far less skill to run a wrecking company than it does to be an architect. The world has been built by builders, who see in the thinking mind of man the object of his own liberation. Thoughts are things, they say. Things are thoughts. Awaken, man, to your sovereignty over all. Cast aside your enemies: doubt, morbidity, fear, and guilt. Ask and it shall be given; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. You cannot dream a dream too big, nor aspire too high. Nothing is impossible.

Everything which you can conceive and accept is yours! Entertain no doubt. Refuse to accept worry or hurry or fear. That which knows and does everything is inside you and harkens to the slightest whisper.

"Three Magic Words": Excerpt #3

Today's excerpt from U.S. Andersen's 1954 book "Three Magic Words" is a bit longer and more in-depth than the previous two, but I urge you to stick with it, because this is truly life-changing stuff.

Modern experiments at places like CERN -- where they are searching for the so-called "God particle" -- only serve to verify the truths contained within the following passage. This is where metaphysics and spirituality meet -- and have a rockin' party. ;-)

BRIEF REVIEW * The single function of the Subconscious Mind, or Universal Mind, is to manifest into form or circumstance the seed of thought. * Man has complete freedom of choice in the kind of thoughts he wishes to plant in the garden of the Subconscious Mind. * The proper use of spiritual law is acceptance and faith. * You cannot demand anything from the Universal Subconscious Mind by willing it to happen. * Guidance and inspiration in the paths of truth and achievement can be yours through faith and reliance in the power greater than you are. You are now experimenting with the greatest force in nature. We caution you not to become so wrapped up in it that you forget your daily life. Do not search for contact with the Subconscious Mind to the exclusion of the exercise of the Conscious Mind, for as a human being your goal must be to achieve a perfect balance between the two. Men and women of genius are those in whom there is a perfect balance between the Subconscious Mind and the Conscious Mind. It is balance we strive for, balance between the great creative power of the Universal Subconscious Mind and the Conscious Mind. Work at your meditation joyfully and confidently. Cast aside all doubt and morbidity and effort and strain. You don't have to make anything; it is already made. You only want to use it correctly. Accept! Believe! Know! Relax! The universe will provide you with all you desire. THE ETERNAL SUBSTANCE "In the beginning the word" does not imply that the beginning of the Universal Mind was a result of the word, but rather the beginning of our physical universe as we know it today. It has only been very lately that our probings at the elemental substances of nature have yielded us the knowledge that mass and density are purely relative. The astounding discovery of science that there is no such thing as a solid mass has revised the thinking of the entire world. Even as you read this and consider that the chair upon which you are now sitting is simply a collection or particles which are moving about with the rapidity of express trains, your very credulity is threatened. When you consider further that there is a thousand times more free space between each of those particles that there is mass in the particles themselves, you are seized with the uncomfortable sensation that you are sitting on nothing. Now if you will hold this thought for a moment and consider that your own body is similarly made up of a collection of free-moving particles widely separated by space and moving about in frenzied agitation, then of a sudden you will see the affinity between the chair and yourself. You are both made of the same substance, which is simply a collection of the only substance there is; and the only differences between you and the chair are of form and consciousness. MASS AND ENERGY ARE ONE Thus far we have only been able to say in general terms that mass is potential energy and energy is potential mass; that a certain weight of uranium, for example, is capable of unleashing a certain amount of power; and that a certain amount of power is capable of creating a certain amount of uranium. And the only possible further conclusion, based on pure scientific research, is that there is only one substance from which everything physical is made and there is only one substance from which all energy is made and this energy, or substance, is infinite in time and space; it has no beginning and no end thus is everywhere at all times, and all of it is anywhere at any time. This may prove to be a substantial dose to digest, but if you are going to throw off the shackles of limited thinking, you must strive to free yourself from conceptions of form, mass, space, and time as ultimate reality. You must say to yourself that you know that the physical world as you see it could not possibly answer the question of your own existence, so the answer must be elsewhere. We now know that matter and energy are one, that there is only one substance or energy or intelligence in all things. Since in its pure form, we can recognize this energy as nothing but invisible power, unintelligible to our five senses, there is not the slightest valid reason to assume that it is anything else than constant and never changing in its basic nature; that it always has been and always will be; in other words, that it is infinite. Infinity or God, eternal substance, eternal intelligence, that thing which is everything and yet is but one thing, that thing which is everywhere and yet is in but one place, that thing which is all time and yet is but one time, that thing which is all form and yet is but one form. Infinite, eternal, only one, and never changing, that to which all things are known and in which every physical object has its being -- this is God, and all of God is in us this moment, right now, and all the moments to come. ULTIMATE REALITY If we have lost you now, it is only because your conception of the final reality of the physical world is so strong that for the moment it will not dissolve before your efforts to free your mind. For example, if we say in all truth that the chair on which you are now sitting is composed of sheer energy which is in a constant state of movement, the Conscious Mind says, "No! I feel it, and it is hard. It has a certain shape and color, and it is real. I can leave it today, and it will be here when I return tomorrow. It cannot move by itself, for only I or someone who is capable of moving can move it. It is not alive; it is inanimate. It is a chair, and I know what a chair is." This is a typical example of the reasoning of the Conscious Mind, but to consider it final reality is a bleak prospect indeed. This is not to propose that you ignore the chair and attempt to walk through it, for you are likely to wind up with a nasty fall. This is only to state that the physical objects and circumstances of our world cannot be final reality. If they are, then this life is all there is and each human being is a poor thing buffeted around by a mad and ironic fate, and this consciousness of yours that is such an astounding thing is nothing but an accident. The great plan and design of the universe could not possibly permit such an appalling accident. You, your consciousness, must fit into this great design just as all other things fit; and the detail and purpose of all life is of such wonder and complexity that there could be nothing else behind it all than an intelligence of infinite scope and power. You live in this intelligence. You have your very being there. This intelligence is the only mind there is; it responds to us as we recognize it, and it responds entirely by suggestion. What a towering wondrous world! We may call upon the power of all creation simply through thought and conviction. Nothing is impossible to man, for the intelligence in which he lives gives him anything he can visualize and have faith in. So let us not allow our Conscious Minds to trick us into believing that the physical world is the ultimate reality. But let us constantly reach outward for the infinite intelligence that is ours. Let us know that all form and circumstance must first originate on the plane of thought, that the first cause of all creation is simply thought and conviction. Let us know that we can contact the Universal Mind for the answers to all of our problems, that we create all of our own circumstance by giving birth to them in our minds, that nothing, nothing in all the universe, can stop our thoughts from becoming real in our experience, for that is the law of life and of living. All things and all circumstances must first be created on the mental plane. When such creation is clear-cut and born of faith and conviction, nothing can stop this image from becoming real. Once this image has come into your mind and you have accepted it, you have done all that it is necessary for you to do. The physical circumstance you desire may come from a direction you expect or it may come in such a way and such a manner as you have never dreamed. Don't strain or urge or become impatient. Simply have faith and let go. Remember, whatever you observe closely causes you to entertain an element of doubt. You have nothing to do but create the mental image with complete faith, and with that simple act the process is completely done. Be assured that the image will become real in your physical world, for you are dealing with law and law alone. You will succeed, for you cannot fail. You are dealing with life force, are a part of life force, and power through self-realization is the destiny of man.
