they're technically long-time colleagues, but their relationship is rlly more like impulsive idiot with too much money and influence (gideon) and his long-suffering braincell (hannes). or at least it would be true if hannes wasn't just as stupid as gideon except in a slightly different way where he's got nonexistent street smarts and even less knowledge of how people are supposed to work on like an emotional level. hannes is like if u took an only child with distant parents and stuck him in the most niche, obscure academic field you can image, while gideon would befriend a rock if it was even a little bit sentient (or uh . he'd try to). they kinda boil down to extrovert who adopted an introvert in a just two dudes being bros in a hot tub five feet apart kind of way
