“Ugly to Beautiful” Challenge
The “Ugly to Beautiful” challenge is a challenge in which you take a Sim (downloaded from from The Gallery) that has been tugged and pulled in CaS so much that they’re practically a mass of clay. Your job is to make them as presentable looking as possible. At least that was my take on it anyway. :-P
I made over this Sim which I named Dot Pattern. The original Sim was made by TiaDavies123 and I think she turned out really cute in the end! Almost no custom content was used aside from the Peach Skinblend by mohkii.

Here’s Fleasanne Tiqqs, the sister of Paula Tiqqs! I tried to keep her more prominent features intact so that she has some resemblance to her original base. I’m very happy with the outcome and am planning on doing more.
The problem with ugly-to-beauty
It's dreadfully depressing that half the 'ugly' sims people are creating for the ugly-to-beauty challenge have one of the afro hairstyles, and their 'beautiful' counterparts once they've been made over have one of the straight styles.
What the fuck does that say about the status of natural hair?
The other half are fat, and while I've seen the odd person try to subvert the idea that fat is ugly by maintaining the sim's weight and body shape while making over their face, more often than not the resulting 'beautiful' sim is slender.
There are plenty of other things that keep coming up in the 'ugly' side of things. Like sims who have some of the aging face overlays, or sims with hook noses. Obviously this whole thing was created as a bit of harmless fun, and a way for people to learn how to use the new sculpting tools. But man if it isn't an academic paper waiting to be published, fascinating really. The whole concept of 'ugly-to-beauty' is a clusterfuck, even if it is just a bit of fun with no real malice behind it. That's not how these things work in general anyway.
I'm going to be actively searching for simmers to follow who create a diverse range of sims. If you are such a person, drop me an ask or something and I'll follow you (on here or on Origin).
