Last spring I got to meet Amie Siegel at a talk about her work. Whenever I see Roberto Matta's work, I'm always struck by how similar his son's drawings and works on paper look...still got Gordon Matta-Clark on the brain after visiting the Bronx Museum's exhibition last week. Took me long enough to make it to the UB Art Galleries, but I'm glad the occasion of my first visit was the opening of #Wanderlust! I had high expectations for the exhibition and it did not disappoint. A standout for me was this work by #MarieLorenz. Lorenz picked up trash and detritus on her boat journey across New York, and made ceramic casts of the objects she picked up. The result is stunning -- hundreds of objects that we otherwise overlook transformed into something beautiful.
