imagine: Alfred found himself on his knees, lungs burning, heart and mind freezing. His body felt numb with just the waves of pain rushing through his veins. He fell to his knees, not able to stand for another second, needing rest, feeling helplessly awful, like his soul was wandering, heading for hell. His gaze flickered upwards, a familiar shape crossed the battlefield. Alfred could swear he could hear the scream the shadow released, shattering through all the other cries, carrying a wildness so different from everything Alfred ever heard in the last few month of cold loneliness. He blinked violently and forced his blurry focus to clear up again. His heart shattered as he did so. The pain crept out of his body, leaving Alfred as a hollow shell, unable to stop staring at the silhouette right in front of him. The viking had returned. There he was. Ubbe. Alfred could remember every feature.
