The UCS-FI-E16UP Cisco Expansion Module providing both network connectivity and management capabilities for the system. The Cisco UCS 6248 UP has one slot for an optional expansion module.
The expansion module allows Cisco UCS 6200 Series Fabric Interconnect to be configured as cost-effective 10-Gigabit Ethernet fabric interconnects and as I/O consolidation platforms with native Fiber Channel connectivity.
The UCS-FI-E16UP Cisco Expansion Module supports Cisco low-latency, lossless 10 Gigabit Ethernet1 unified network fabric capabilities, which increase the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of Ethernet networks. Significant TCO savings come from an FCoE-optimized server design in which network interface cards (NICs), host bus adapters (HBAs), cables, and switches can be consolidated.
