I need your Mike and Sam headcanons for postgame 🙏 (romantic or platonic) ✨

POST GAME DARING DUO i am so sorry for the late reply but i'm here and i'm filled with Thoughts - i think they move in together and i don't think they really plan it out - actually, to me, sam dips for a few months post game and doesn't respond to anyone while she's trying to figure shit out - during this time matt and emily break up and so do mike and jess - mike and jess are amicable they just. every time they touch, glass shatters. they need time alone and all mike sees when he looks at jess is snow and steep falls and not being fast enough - just as much as mike feels guilty about jess' injuries, jess feels sick about him having to hack his own fingers off while looking for her - they care so deeply for one another, but not romantically - this is going to be a long post why am i talking about mikejess - OKAY ANYWAY. after him and jess break up mike misguidedly buckles down to finish the college semester and it almost kills him - he can't sleep, his mobility is down, he's smoking and drinking to try to distract himself and to feel better - mike is the only one who gets any texts from sam, which is funny because he's ignoring everyone else for completely different reasons - she shows up at his apartment and finds him passed out in the kitchen. she doesn't really leave again after that - he hates the loss of independence but she isn't really taking care of him that much, she's just. there for him. they understand each other - she sits outside and waits for him when he's at physical therapy and helps him remember his stretches, he tells her what people are saying if she can't hear - they take turns picking movies until one of them falls asleep - he puts a blanket over sam if he finds her sleeping on the couch and carries her to bed if he finds her sleeping at the table - sam keeps up her gym and rock climbing habits and mike goes with her as soon as he's able - being able to climb saved lives. sam is not going to let herself lose that skill - mike just needs to be as prepared as possible, so he learns climbing and trains endurance and overdoes his physical therapy - they go grocery shopping together and bicker over mike's junk food vs sam's "vegan shit" - (mike researches vegan brands and keeps the pantry stocked) i have more to say about this if they fall in love. if anyone wants this part 2 drop an ask lol

I decided to replay the original and I have a few thoughts.

Why didn't Sam just take the letter once they had all walked away? That instigates the whole prank right and she was there when they set it down. I get trying to talk them out of doing it, but she could have just taken the letter??

Beth's closest relationships in the original are (by order of highest to lowest) Hannah, Josh, Sam, Jess, and Chris. Ashley, Mike, Matt, and Emily are all at an equal level to one another. I find it kind of interesting that she is closer to Jess than Chris. Jess is the one who instigates the mean spirited prank on Hannah. Beth never knows that, but it's an interesting wrinkle.

There is an investigation going on a year after their disappearance and they do mention a man of interest in the case-which is an interesting foreshadowing to flame thrower guy. Josh likely knew about it. So, it added a little credibility to his "prank". The podcast Sam was listening to not only had the sheriff of Blackwood on it but featured Josh's note to his friends. It wouldn't have been a stretch for his friends to believe that someone would take advantage of their publicized return to the mountain to do something. The Wendigos were a fascinating angle, but I think it would have also been kind of interesting if there had actually been someone with a vendetta against the Washington family just plotting to "get even" or maybe even an obsessed fan of Mr. Washington's movies wanting to re-create some of his classics.

Sam's not really close with any of the main characters when you start playing initially. She is neutral towards everyone except Jess and Mike which is fair. Jess was the planner of the prank and Mike was the catalyst. Relationships are fluid and change over time. Since it has been a year since she's seen everyone, the fall in relationship levels could likely be explained by guilt and distance. The only one I don't really get is Josh. Her relationship with him, I would think, should be higher given that she says at the end that she thought they had a connection.

Anyway this was just a thought dump while I'm at home sick and replaying one of my favorite video games.

Emily/Sam

•the power couple. Gets shit done efficiently and effortlessly.

•definitely look at eachother when someone says something stupid

•Emily gets into altercations a lot with her fiery attitude and Sam usually has to calm her down/hold her back.

•Emily supports Sam from the sidelines as she rock climbs and does her other sportly activities. She is not messing up her manicure

•Sam is very careful with how she spends money so Emily always sneakily buys things she saw Sam look at

•Not a very PDA couple. Very subtle with their affections in public

•Sam gets distracted pretty easily and Emily has to rope her back in

Ashley/Jessica

•Sass apocalypse

•holds hands and lean on eachother without a care

•Jessica does Ashley’s makeup when she lets her

•Jessica loves to bring Ashley to parties and stuff and Ashley ends up enjoying it for a little bit before dragging Jess back to a more comfortable hangout spot

•Ashley loves to braid Jessica’s hair for her

•they support eachother always and almost never fight

Jessica/Sam

•blonde bombshell meets blonde bombshell

•Cheerleader/Jock kind of relationship

•loves to hold hands in public and get their nails done matching

•Jessica definitely is the girlfriend to say excuse me she asked for no pickles for Sam since Sam would rather just eat it instead of speaking up

•Sam is an early riser and Jess would rather sleep until noon

Emily/Jessica

•bicker a lot but playfully

•both are competitive and love to show off. Tries to outdo the other on gift giving

•fashionistas. The kind of couple to make jaws drops when they step out together

•neither of them really care for driving and would rather Uber places

•Not very big on PDA but attached at the hip
