USTM Rewards 50+ Students for Cracking UGC-NET with Full Course Fee Reimbursement
In a remarkable achievement, over 50 students from the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) have successfully cleared the UGC-NET exams held in December last year. What makes this accomplishment even more significant is USTM’s Pay Back Policy, under which the university will reimburse the entire course fee of these NET-qualified students as a reward for their academic excellence.
USTM’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. GD Sharma, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting students by providing financial incentives and comprehensive coaching programs. “At USTM, we believe that no deserving student should be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints. Our mission is to empower students, ensuring they excel in national competitive exams and emerge as leaders in their respective fields,” he said. He further emphasized that USTM's initiatives extend beyond academics, incorporating soft skills training, interview workshops, and motivational seminars to holistically prepare students for future challenges.
Dr. Trishna Thakuria, Director of USTM’s University NET Forum, elaborated on the university’s coaching framework, stating, “Our NET Forum conducts daily coaching sessions after 4:30 PM, ensuring that students receive extensive preparation for UGC-NET, GATE, SLET, IAS, and other prestigious competitive exams.” She added that the university’s Pay Back Policy serves as an inspiration for students to strive for excellence in these exams.
As part of its broader mission to support aspirants preparing for government and competitive exams, USTM offers free coaching for NET, SLET, GATE, Banking, SSC, and other government recruitment tests through its Centre for Competitive Examination. Established in 2017, the university’s NET Forum has been a cornerstone in guiding students toward academic success, equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and motivation to thrive in competitive environments.
This initiative highlights USTM’s dedication to fostering a culture of academic excellence and providing tangible incentives to students who aim high, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of their aspirations.
SC dismisses plea challenging cancellation of UGC-NET
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a petition challenging the cancellation of the UGC-NET 2024 (University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test) examination on the basis of alleged paper leaks.
“Nearly two months have elapsed since the examination was cancelled and the fresh examination is now to be held in the course of the next few days. In this view of the matter, entertaining the present petition under Article 32 of the Constitution at present stage would only add uncertainty and result in utter chaos,” said a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud.
