@motherkluxer: In the original show, Annie was a redhead with freckles, with obvious Irish decent which during that time was seen as unusual and ultimately why she wasn't adopted so soon. So the reason it's a "black movie" is because it's addressing current issues and making the movie relevant, especially with the new technology and everything.
