Checking on Dandy!
story below cut.
His tail swept the dusty office floors. Ichor and cobwebs alike aligned the place. His chair was beaten up and stained. Sprawled against the ground were books on various different topics. He frowned at the mess his place had become
.It was his fault.
Dandy hadn’t meant to cause this outbreak. Well…technically he had, but also hadn’t? It was hard to explain. Either way, it was him who started it, and he will be the one to stop it. Or, so he hopes.
After a few moments of just staring at nothing, he silently walked over and plopped down in his seat. A loud creeeeak emitted from the chair. He huffed, silently making a note to get a new chair after all this was over. And probably get a new everything after this was all over. If he’d even make it that far.
“Shut up..” Dandy grumbled at himself, hanging his head in his hands. Stop thinking so negatively, we’ll get through this! Everyone’s gonna be fine, everything is gonna be fine, and nobody will even hold the slightest hatred towards you! He thought, knowing all that to not be true. The infection was spreading rapidly, hurting many. Soon he’d succumb to it too…but not today! Today was a new day, a day to get research done! A day to fix everything!
Dandy felt a nudge at his ankle, followed by a low whine. He then realized he had just been talking to himself out loud. He looked down to see Pebble, who had a concerned look on his face. He felt a stab of guilt as he glanced over at his dog, turning away again. He refused to let his best friend see him in this state. After a second, he realized that he was being rude.
“Sorry, Pebs…” He mumbled quietly, turning back around and gently lifting Pebble up into his lap. The rock dog gently sat himself down, curling up with a content face. Dandy silently brushed his hand up against Pebble, letting everything sit in. For one second, he didn’t have to know everything. For one second, nobody hated him. For one second, he was okay.
Unfortunately that one second doesn’t last long
.A screech goes through the hallways, no doubt a twisted. Another one lost. Dandy looked away, ashamed. Another brutal reminder of his stupid mistake. He let his arms drop, not even bothering to pet Pebble anymore, which in response got him a whimper from his dog. His rock that he loved so much, just stared up at him, tail low and eyes sad. He nuzzled his owner, just for Dandy to get irritated.
“Stop it. I don’t need you making me feel bad, I already do that enough myself.” He growled, placing his pet back on the ground. Dandy was about ninety-nine percent sure that Pebble knew what he had done. The only reason his best friend stuck around was just to remind him of all the awful things he’d done and would continue to do. It was for the best that he should distance himself from Dandy. Who knows who he’d hurt next?
But when he’d look into Pebble’s eyes, he’d see that wasn’t the case. The dog was cluelessly loyal, chasing after an owner with a non-existent heart, desiring love that wouldn’t come. But again, that would only be if he actually looked, instead of locking himself away.
The flower just groaned, standing up and snatching a book off the ground.
Ichor 101
Ichor comes from Greek Mythology! It is the ethereal fluid coursing through the veins of the gods and/or immortals! It basically translates to blood of the gods. Of course, there are many other meanin-
"Wow, so helpful…” Dandy snapped sarcastically. Yeah, knowing the definition of a word is sooooo going to help him in saving all his friends! Just what he needs!
He didn’t realize he was crying until a tear fell onto the paper. He immediately crumbled the paper up, throwing it to the floor as he rubbed at his face. He couldn’t do anything right. He sank to the floor, tugging his knees to his chest and slamming his head down onto them.
“I’m sorry…please…” He murmured to himself.
And there it was again, that nudging, that asking for love, that trying to give support. There Pebbles was, trying to give love and support to a person who didn’t deserve it.
Dandy would never deserve it.
