So today we (I, still just one of me) are hunting for material we can use to post and promote across the different platforms (don't worry tumblr, you'll always be my #1 love-hate relationship)

The difficulty is that some of the acts we are promoting and giving a platform to haven't had a huge number of opportunities before so (despite being very funny and skilled comedians) we don't have a wide selection to choose from (and we refuse to use pretransition content which I have seen some people do 🤢)

This is why opportunities like these are important, we will be able to give performers another opportunity to present and build themselves and their audience (with full pay! Do not accept exposure-bucks!) To increase their job security and enable them to achieve success to help others up the ladder too.

So come along and give some support to the event, if we sell just 33 tickets the event will have broken even and all profits will go to trans advocacy charities.

Maybe you are wondering why I'm doing this? Or what the end goal of this is? Or you're just thinking TVC admin why are you asking these? we just want funny things to laugh at.

Well I'll tell you the answers imaginary interlocutor.

I'm doing this so I can elevate trans voices in my industry. A pretty "well duh" answer but the truth.

The end goal is that this is successful enough for us to run a week long event with different trans performers doing 1 night wip of shows and q+a after to help them develop their work and build a community together. If this goes well that that could happen next year, this could become a annual event, maybe eventually other venues get involved, imagine the TransVision Fringe.

Only trans performers, (maybe some cis MCs), all trans written stories, building a community and promoting an understanding of ourselves.

Anyways if you want to help then go buy some tickets, you can also donate to the cause so that we can offer free tickets to trans people.

Our First Time

Lots of things we experience for the first time, but this is our first post on tumblr (under this account)

we (I keep saying we but it's just me here) are gonna document to the best of our ability the ongoings behind putting on our event Oh look a ticket link

On Saturday the 4th of April we will be hosting our first night, this is an event to showcase and platform trans performers in the UK (sorry we're in london I hate it too)

Money raised will be going to The Trans+ Solidarity Alliance and Defund Transphobes charities

The Trans+ Solidarity Alliance is a group that works with established organisations to facilitate progressive change in the UK for trans folks

Defund Transphobes is a grass roots charity that helps local groups organise to protest and raise awareness of the sources of money that funds anti trans sentiment and legislation.

BUT

we aren't just about raising money for charities we are also (mostly in fact) about helping trans people in the arts to have a stage, audience and most importantly pay.

So this all kinda happened suddenly and unexpectedly, like the process for me putting this on as a theatre worker was asking a theatre I work at if I could have a day, messaging James Ross, whom I wanted to work with for ages, and then that was kinda it?

Like obviously there was the getting of acts and marketing and poster stuff and all this happening now but like, once those two initial elements were completed, the wheels were in motion.

I don't know if there is a point to this post, maybe just to say, ask people to try doing stuff, I've raised £500 to run this myself and that is not an unreasonable amount, but also if I weren't such a stickler for paying people full rates many people would have offered to do it for less.

Ask people, ask me, let's see what we can do to make the world better.
