WT Mission Report: Crater Revisited
The group gathered at the lodge, catching up on what transpired the previous week. There were still many unanswered questions and not much to go on with the pieces that they had, so they decided to head back to the crater on the Isles of Umbra to see if they overlooked something. They set sail to the Isles, finding that there was a lack in presence from any undead but that the Mantises were still acting strangely. They dispatched any that got in their way, discovering the largest one was covered in some strange brown substance. It smelled horrid and they tried to keep away from it, deciding it best to continue towards the crater.
The smell didn’t dissipate as they left the mantis corpse, seeming to grow stronger the further they trekked on. They saw that the crater area was littered with heaping piles of brown substances everywhere. The odor from the substance did seem to mask the vile smell that the crater had previously, but it seemed like it was only covering up the smell rather than solving it. The brown substance had a familiar golden dust scatter along it as well…
One of the smaller piles started to move near Aden’s foot, catching his eye. He took his spear to poke at it, causing the pile to shake and twitch about before shooting into a larger pile of brown substance, seeming to come to life out of nowhere. It grew several appendages as it shaped itself, resembling a large golem. However, this golem was definitely not constructed of rock…
It attacked the group, swinging its arms wildly, shooting projectiles in the air and harming itself in an attempt to catch the group in the crossfire. Each time Erdene’s rock-aspected attack landed a decisive blow, a chunk of the golem splattered out and caused the group to move in a panic to try and not get shi-... hit by it. It grew weaker by the volley of attacks that the group used as well as Sela’s leech seed attacks, draining it’s strength. The golem almost succeeded in reassembling itself with the scattered piles of brown substance in the area, but a decisive blow by Erdene with a falling boulder attack sealed the deal in destroying the golem… But at the cost of making it explode before their very eyes…
As the muck settled and the group collected themselves, a familiar voice filled the air. A garlean known by most of the lodge and spoken in whispers elsewhere… He made his way through the mess, casually walking past the group to collect a gold orb that once was within the just-defeated golem. His words seemed direct and truthful, but the people at the lodge knew better, knowing that he wanted this orb’s power for some unknown purpose. Canis tried to state that he needed it for his sister’s sake, but Roger did not buy it, demanding he leave the orb with them.
Canis seemed all too willing to pass Roger the orb, causing him to hesitate in doubt. After some advice from Raik, Roger requested that it be placed down the ground. Canis did as such… By literally dropping it on the ground. A hum in the air turned into a loud hiss, only being able to be heard from aether-sensitive people of the group, causing them to grow irritable and aggressive. They were able to control themselves however, stopping from doing anything drastic. During the confusion Canis managed to leave the area, leaving the gold orb in the lodge’s hands. They were still confused as to what happened that night as well as what to do with the orb… More unanswered questions...
Also surrounded in shit.
