A Solgaleo delivered three our wrapped gifts (inside a fancy space travel box) - One addressed to Nori, one addressed to Cassius, and one for them both. One pair of gifts sweaters that may or may not be slightly over-sized for them both. Nori's had a pattern that looked like the northern lights, and Cassius's sweater had a pattern consisting of ones and zeroes (should she take the time to translate the binary, it simply translates to "sweater").

There is a note for the both of them!

Both notes read:

HAPY HOLIDAY FREND [NORI/CASSIUS]! AM NOT SUR IF IT COLD IN ULTRA SPAC BUT IF IT IS I GOT U BOTH SWEATRS 2 KEEP U WARM! LOV, TORRENT

The third gift has a note attached on the outside, that reads:

"Greetings, Nori and Cassius! Whether or not you celebrate any of the Terran holidays happening around this time of year, I thought I may send you both some treats made during these festivities! They are known as "gingerbread cookies". They may be a little burnt, but I hope you like them! I have been told by my Terran colleagues at the sanctuary that they are rather good.

Happy Holidays, and may the Blinding One guide your paths!

Inside the present is, indeed, a metal tin full of soft gingerbread cookies.

[Once again there are two files, with one being a more typical video and the other being in some alien format. It beings with Nori and Cassius reading through the notes before pulling out the gifts within the box. Cassius smiles at the camera before speaking. “Thank you Torrent! I’ve never had a sweater so I appreciate the gesture, friend.”

Nori takes a second to examine his own sweater as he takes it from the box. “The average temperature in Ultra Megalopolis does not necessarily require such warm garments and we would not be allowed to wear such on many URS missions. However, perhaps I will find time to appreciate it while I am here on leave. The design is nice, after all. It is made to be reminiscent of Terra’s ‘northern lights’, is it not?”

Cassius brings out her own sweater before furrowing her brows. Then, she grabs her visor from next to her and puts it on. She adjusts some dials before giving a little chuckle and flashing a smile at the camera. “I like the labeling.”

Finally they get to Tero’s present. They both read through the note and give a gesture of thanks. Nori reaches in and opens the tin of cookies. His eyebrows give a little raise while he looks inside. Cassius follows suit with a little whistle. “Your gift will be appreciated, Tero, that’s for sure. Besides, even if they are burnt we won’t know the difference!”

Nori tries to project annoyance at Ulva’s joke but it’s clear that it made him smile. “Thank you again. May The Blinding One light your path as well. Happy holidays.” The videos then end shortly after. ] (// @anomaly-sanctum )

The insectoid wyvern hovers outside the URS facility on the landing pad containing a somewhat shoddily wrapped package in silvery wrapping paper with a note on top. It seems hastily put together, but contains several things inside. Gifts for Nori and Cassius — and Seira. If Pandoria was not here to give these items to her compatriot, then it’d make sense for the allies she had stationed in her homeworld to give it to her.

The note on top, written in Megolaian script, reads: “Happy Delibird Day, Nori and Cassius. I am still not fully familiar with the customs involved in this holiday, but one thing I was certain of is the giving of gifts. Enclosed within this parcel are things for each of you, and for Seira. Nori – I have gotten for you a book about the natural history of the Hoenn region and another wooden carving, this time in the shape of a Milotic. Cassius – I have for you a necklace with a shed Sharpedo tooth and seaglass. And as for the last remaining item… the Skitty PokéDoll is for Seira. I might have literally gotten these at the last minute, but I hope you enjoy them regardless. May the Blinding One light your path.

[There’s a video here in both a normal video format and a more typical holographic one in an alien format. In the video Nori and Cassius are quietly reading through the note and then opening the package to see for themselves what lies inside. Cassius just raises her eyebrows and whistles while Nori tries his best to conceal his smile before making a gesture of gratitude. “Raṣayi eru, Pandoria” He quietly says as he takes the book and carving out and examines them. “I will certainly be learning from these. I very much appreciate it.”

Ulva then takes out the necklace and looks at it from a few different angles before slipping it around her neck. “It’s beautiful, honestly. We will be certain to cherish them!” They spend a few more moments looking over the gifts before Nori shakes himself off a bit and nudges Ulva. “Oh, right! We will make sure that Seira’s present is delivered. I am sure she will enjoy it. May The Blinding One light your path as well.” The video ends. ]

What was the most challenging mission you all been on? How did you overcome it?

That is certainly a difficult question. I have been on plenty challenging missions for the URS under a wide variety of circumstances so it is hard to point out one specific assignment. The use of the word ‘challenging’ also makes this question more complicated, as there are many aspects of a mission that can lead to being such. You could be referring to the specific tasks needed to accomplish the end goal rather than the overall danger associated with the location, for example. For these reasons and a few others I will be ruling out my first official mission, my initial missions to Terra, and most UB accidents inside of Headquarters.

From here I believe that the best answer to this question would be either one of my missions into Ultra Deep Sea to collect complex energy readings, or my longest stay at the Ultra Plant Extended Research Base. The first is due to not only the inherent danger of Ultra Deep Sea (simply because of the presence of Nihilego) but also because I was tasked with leading all data collection regarding Infinity and Beast energy. I was not in change of that mission as a whole but it was still a very important and challenging position. I also chose the second due to the logistics of staying in such a place for such a period. I tend to stress more over close proximity to Ultra Beasts than others in the squadron, and so staying at the base was much more than being away from the familiarity of Ultra Megalopolis but also of managing my mental responses to constant exposure to stressful situations.

On both missions I overcame these challenges by not only trusting in my own abilities and careful judgment, but relying on those around me to support me. My partner, Cassius, is a major supporter in my life both on missions and off them. The URS can accomplish what we do because of our teamwork and communication. I appreciate your question and I hope my response has been adequate.

do you believe even the worst people can change? ♪

Do I believe that even the worst people can change? Yes, I do. Everyone is capable of change, although it might be extremely difficult. Even a horrible, greedy monster of a person is capable of change. However, that does not mean I will always forgive them. Just because a person has changed does not mean that their actions in the past have changed as well. Should I forgive them if they’ve changed so much? That is a much more complicated question and one that I don’t believe I know the answer to. Still, they can change.

If I may weigh in on this, I also believe that terrible people can change. I also very much believe that good people can change. Both can change for the better or for the worst. Really though, no matter what you have done you can always change. It might be hard. It might be impossible alone. Still, if there was no way to change, what hope would we have to ever do better. Our actions in the future have not happened and our actions in the past do not always define us. It is our actions in the present that determines who we care. If we could not change then we would all be picked as villains at birth. We can certainly change, it is what makes the present worth living.

[The voice some of you may recognize as Ulva Cassius sighs and speaks first. “Has your headache cleared up at all? They said they wanted you to take is slow until it gets better.”

Nori responds after a moment of silence. “I think so? I’m not light headed anymore but it does still hurt.” …more silence. “Do- do you think I made the right decision?”

“Nori, I… I trust in the decisions that you make. There’s just nothing I can do about this that makes me feel productive or will make a physical impact… and so I have nowhere to put my worry. I’m not doubting you, I’m just nervous that I can’t help if this doesn’t turn out.” There’s another second of silence before the two people can be heard colliding in a hug. Eventually Cassius speaks up again. “Why don’t we go for a walk to one of the markets near my old hideout? I think the view could do us some good.”

“I have no oppositions to that plan. It will be nice to see the city again. I could never go far as a kid so-“

“…Nori?”

“They wouldn’t let me go into busy streets as a kid. I don’t know who or why or where I went otherwise, but I know something I didn’t just a second ago. It’s strange. I don’t really know how to describe learning a fact about yourself that still somehow feels distant from you.”

“Do you want to stay here and think about it some more? I definitely wouldn’t blame you. Plus, we can go out whenever we want, you got us both official leave time.”

“…No, I think I still want to go. After all, I apparently have to make up for the time I didn’t have. Besides, I would rather make new memories than dwell on a separated past I cannot change.”

“Then let’s go buy something and keep it for sentimental value,” Ulva jokes.

“Or we could purchase something that will actually be useful…” Nori replies with a bit of humor in his mumble.]

Sorry for not responding to this sooner, the taste of that toxin lasted for way longer than I thought it would.

1. So, there are a couple of ways of collecting a sample like that. The URS uses a lot of specialty manufactured equipment to ensure the highest quality of specimens and Naganadel toxins are not an exception. The sample I displayed in the video was taken a week or so ago from some target training I did with Stinger. I used a tool similar to that of a syringe to collect some of the Toxin off of the ground and into the vial, making sure not to collect any that had been in direct contact with the ground. When we get samples for anti-venom or procedures where the toxin cannot be contaminated in the slightest, we have a special device that attaches to the end of the stinger and automatically seals the collection container once it has reached a certain capacity. This does not harm the Naganadel in any way and is only done a trained willing participants, who get adequate compensation for their work. Stinger has done this several times and although they do not enjoy it per se, they do not seem to mind it too much. Also, they definitely can control the speed and force at which they spray and Naganadel participating in anti-venom collections must be trained to have very good control over their toxins, especially under a potentially uncomfortable an unpleasant situation such as this.

2. There are a few materials that Naganadel poison does not stick to, namely, the Naganadel themself. Each Naganadel produces its own ‘oil-like’ compound that does not bled with or stick to its own poison. In Naganadel hives I know there is a phenomenon where other Naganadel of the same hive can counteract the effects of another’s toxins and that the toxins can be used to determine how related two of these beasts are, although this is not my expertise. In terms of other materials, there are a couple of both synthetic and natural compounds that a Naganadel’s poison will not stick to, although I do not currently know what they are.

3. The biology of Naganadel is not a specialty of neither me nor Cassius, although I do know that the subspecies of Naganadel bred and raised in Ultra Megalopolis has toxins that glow brighter than the others. I can only assume this is due to the lack of natural light in our world as that seems like the most likely explanation.

4. The last part of that video was definitely dangerous, but I made sure I was safe before, during, and after. My bodily fluids and the water I washed the toxins down with allowed it to dissolve enough that it would not stick in my mouth and throat, although the taste certainly lingered. As for what it tasted like? Imagine the two worst things you’ve ever tasted and put them together, then disregard that because it was worse. I might be exaggerating but it was pretty bad.
