a starter @unbrokenvigil didn’t ask for
[ ♛ ] —- - David snapped his fingers in front of Quentin repeatedly in an attempt to get him to wake. Though he could very easily walk out the gates right now, without a care in the world, he decided to go back for the younger man. As much as he tried not caring for the other survivors, he didn’t think he had it in his heart to leave Quentin behind. Especially with Freddy.
Of course, he wasn’t close with Quentin, but there were some things David could tell just by observing. It was a knack he picked up young, and used to his advantage when trying to get his way.
It was clear Quentin had history with The Nightmare. The look in his eyes, the way he carried himself, how his voice wavered; it was nothing like the other trials. His gaze was the most telling of them all. The expressions written across his face were something David had become much too familiar with in the world of the living. He was certain the same ones had shown on his own far too many times as a boy.
It was an agonizing, painful thing to watch; twice as painful to live. And as hard as David wanted to be, he couldn’t carry on anymore knowing he’d let this poor, weary man go through that.
When snapping failed, he took Quentin by the lapels and shook, hoping that he’d wake him before Freddy returned.
〝QUENTIN! You gotta break out of this, Mate!〞
