AT A CROSSROADS: A defining moment in the end only God matters Luke 7-8 1.) God knows who we are & what we are undergoing A. Whats in my heart Luke 7:13 [13] When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don't cry.” 7:29-30 The common people, including the tax collectors (who embodied evil in most people’s minds) heard John’s message and repented. In contrast, the Pharisees and experts in the law—religious leaders—rejected his words. Wanting to live their own way, they justified their own point of view and refused to listen to other ideas. They “rejected God’s plan for them.” They were so close to Jesus, and yet so far away. The truth stood before them, and they rejected it. What have you done with the truth you read in God’s Word? B. Whats in my mind. 7:33-35 The Pharisees weren’t troubled by their inconsistency toward John the Baptist and Jesus. They were good at justifying their “wisdom.” Most of us can find compelling reasons to do or believe whatever suits our purposes. If we do not examine our ideas in the light of God’s truth, however, we may be just as obviously self-serving as the Pharisees. 2.) So He gives us the answer to the situation through His word. Luke 8:10-15 NIV [10] He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, “ 'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.' 3.) But still gives us the free will to choose who we are going to be and what we are going to do with His word that was given to us. Luke 8:11-15 Here are different reactions: The Different Reactions to God: [12] Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. [13] Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. [14] The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. [15] But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. My REFLECTION: God knows me. Though i cannot control the people and or the situation i am in. Fear and Doubt may overwhelm me. What matters is He is there for me, my unmovable, my unshakable, my rock, my comfort, my strength, my fortress, my refuge, my stable, my loving, my faithful God. In the end, He is all that matters. And following Him to the cross matters. I die to myself so that Jesus can live through me. Lord, give me strength that i may not fail you. When meet at A CROSSROADS: its always a defining moment for us but we ought to remember that in the end whatever your decisions may go its always inbetween God and you. What you both have agreed on: So how do you know that it is Gods will? That you and God both agreed to: Philippians 4:6-7 NIV [6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. When at a crossroads of decisions: it is at par with Gods will when: 1.) you are not anxious about the situation, you would gladly do it. 2.) you are thankful of the situation and you are not regretting anything about it. 3.) you are at peace no matter what forseeable results may come. 4.) by choosing that decision: you are more like Jesus/ closer to Jesus.
