Dear Valentina,

     I Love you.  I'm sorry if this is all so sudden or confusing to you, I just had to tell you.  I know that it sounds mad, and we barely know each other, but I feel things for you that can't be explained through a simple friendship. I know that you are Montparnasse's girl and that is why I'm not telling you this in person.  A part of my feels so wrong and selfish as I do not want to step over my boundaries with you, but the other part of me is so happy that I am now telling you of my feelings and getting this off of my chest.  I need you to know that I will wait for you, forever if it takes that long.   When I'm with you it feels like I'm complete, as if a hole in me has become filled.  I only want to kiss you and hold you for the rest of our lives.  I do not expect for you to write me back, so I will not be expecting a letter back.  I just thought that I should tell you of my true feelings.  Valentina I Love you.

It was late, almost morning by now, but Montparnasse was just getting home from a job. It wasn't the first time he had returned to his apartment in the middle of the night, and it was certainly not the last. This wasn't the first time a job had gone south, either. But when he opened the door to his apartment and saw Valentina sitting on the couch, that was all forgotten. The door was shut, his bag on the floor, and he was crouching in front of her in seconds gently examining the purpling bruise beneath her eye.

Not a word passed between them as he silently led her by the hand to his room and sat her on the edge of his bed before rummaging through his closet for the large old sweatshirt he knew was there. Returning, he crouched before her again, untying and gently pulling off her converse, kissing the tops of her toes lightly as he set them on the floor. He unbuttoned her rain-dampened jeans next, planting his lips on the skin above her knees as he pulled them off her legs. Moving up, he gently tugged her blouse up, kissing her stomach and the soft skin beneath her collar as the fabric uncovered it. His lips ghosted from her shoulder, up her neck, and onto her cheek just under the bruise. His lips lingered on her forehead as he whispered reassurances against it, promising things would be okay. Then, pulling back, he kissed her tenderly on the lips before pulling the soft sweatshirt over her head and settling her under the covers, tucking her back securely against his chest.
