(Music Video short introduction of the history).
AI Johnson’s” The jazz singer" 1927, the first successful synchronised film/ that could be known as a music video was some thing new that people had never hared of before, because it is music not only could they listen to it, but watch it being played at the same time on the cinema. Because this is some thing that audiences had never heard and it got well known, lead to some conferment people making stars singing in films/ also know as music videos.
In the 1930's music was started to appear in films such as musical films, for example in the music video - Mickey mouse: Band concert and the purpose of it was to entertain, amazed the audience, show what fun colour in a music video could be and give the audience a new understanding of what music video is and a different way to experiences music.
1940's colour films became a lot more popular thanks to the music videos such as Walt Disney's - Fantasia a colourful musical animated film (based around famous pieces of classical music). Disney's - Fantasia of just one of the cheap and cheerful musical films to be relented that year.
1950's Musical theatre became more and more popular in film because it was used to promote the music artists, the megastar performer came in such as Elvis prissily (he has would wide fans following his music and song) and his music on film/ music video got him many more fans. In the same year TV became more popular than concerts, cinemas and musical theatre because people could watch the artist on TV, that meant that it saved people from going out to different places and they could just watch from the concert of there own homes. More performers were singing one hit of the year and years.
1960's more and more people wanted to see the music artists, performers grow within the decade and there was a new high rise in counter culture. Music films were really starting to take shape because this allowed the audience to the performers. Because films, artists became more experimental. In steed of the Beatles being in only one place they came up with an idea to film there performances and that then meant they could be every where at the same time.
1970's, Clips from artists music videos were used in an Australian TV show called Countdown that became a very important role in the development of the music video industry, for music artists to promote their music and it also was a method of promoting acts that appeared in the TV show. There were two music artist know as Queen and Pink Floyd became two of the most successful music video artists because of TV show promoting them and there videos.
1980’s, The first music video to aired in the 1981 was the artist Buggles, video killed the radio star, a director know as David Mallet helped David Bowie sell his first UK number one because of the eye catching promo David Mallet did for the TV series Ashes to Ashes. Michael Jackson was the music artist in 1980, to release a compact short music video film called Thriller and with that he took music video to a whole new level, changing the format.
In 1990’s music video directors started be nosed, given the credit that they should have had yeas ago and in 1995 the two most expensive music videos were Madonna’s and Bedtime story (which both cost Michael and Janet Jackson $5 million).
2000’s Channels that showed music video were very popular, in till about 2003 or 2005 music video channels were being taken over by other shows and YouTube that was founded in 2005 made it very easy for people to watch music videos people had uploaded. But it was not all good due to legal rights the music video artists have over there music, there were battles between record labels and websites, for example YouTube regarding the legal rights to the artists music videos.
