Woodblock Prints of Friends in Garden During Summer

Using a large piece mdf, I emulated the style of wood block printing. I really liked the harsh and jolted marks made. Retiring to traditional methods makes the work seem more intimate.

I also do monoprint drawings and allows me to make mistakes, in contrast to the labour intensive and thought out block prints.

I used the colour purple as an alternative to black and allows nuance in tone yet further contrast.

I really like the effect of wood block printing and I enjoyed the carving process. My plan is the up the scale and explore the size of prints.
