Festival Night || unknownxenchanter
There was nothing more exciting to Izanami than festivals. As a child she had never been permitted to attend. As a courtesan, she could only attend on the arm of an escort and was unable to enjoy herself fully. Now that she had a modicum of freedom from that former life, she took an almost child-like delight in local festivals.
Tonight the air was warm and breezy and the last of the cherry blossom petals fell on the festival goers and clung to their clothes and hair. Izanami plucked a few off of her kimono collar and blew them back into the air as though she were blowing a kiss to the night sky.
Having availed herself fully of all the popular street fair foods, she made one last stop for some shaved ice, cherry flavor, and then made her way to find a spot to watch the fireworks. People bustled around her, and she saw a spot on the bridge where she could have a good view. Weaving in and out of people, she had almost made it to the stone railing, when a group of rowdy youths bumped into her. The shaved ice she had carried so carefully through the crowds fell onto the ground, upending and spilling bright red onto the stones.
"Saa..." Iza sighed and frowned softly at the mess. Now I'll have to go all the way back, she thought to herself. She pouted and stared down at the ruined sno-cone, debating on how she was going to pick it up and not stain her kimono.
