AKA shit that will get me excommunicated from the Abbey
As some of y’all know already, involve 3D in my 2D art workflow by using models to create mockups of my art before I start. I recently started extracting models from Dishonored to use as references in my mockups, and was asked how I do it. So I wrote this dirty little guide for anyone interested in the same process.
To follow this guide, you will need:
Unreal Engine Viewer, aka Umodel
Blender
A copy of Dishonored 1 (and any of its DLCs, if you so please)
Patience, time, and perhaps spite
Before jumping in, please note:
I’m not a 3D expert, and my knowledge is highly tailored to my workflow, so there may be gaps in said knowledge.
While I do walk through an admittedly simple, cobbled-together way of adding textures to meshes in Blender, and I did my best to make this guide as beginner friendly as possible, this is not a guide on how to use Blender. It does assume the reader has some knowledge of Blender.
My normal process is highly tailored toward Daz Studio. This guide doesn’t cover that currently, but I do plan to return and add an optional walkthrough of my Daz process at the end for anyone interested. It’s not gonna be a total guide on how Daz works, but it will be a bit more in depth because the official documentation for Daz Studio blows hot ass.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to shoot me a DM! I’ll try my best to help.
