Sooooo, I was feeling a little sad and you didn’t specify happy ending (I’m sorry!). Warning in advanced but ending makes sense per show cannon!
You were both still so tired, the type of tired where moving seems as though it will be the thing to finally take you down. Thankfully though, you were also both still alive, and since the battle had had time to wash and prepare for the future battles to come. You knew this wasn’t then end, and that fact alone had finally prompted you to finally confess your feelings for the Lannister in Winterfell.
You had met him in what remained of the courtyard, noting that he was saddling and packing his horse despite the previous night’s trials. “Jaime, may I speak with you.” You said gently nudging against him when he continued his work. He nodded and allowed you to guide him away from his horse, and you couldn’t help the flutter in your stomach when he didn’t pull his golden hand from your warm one.
Stopping, you kept his hand in yours and you noticed his eyes glance at the gesture before focusing on your face again. “I…Jaime I’m…after everything that’s happened, everything that will happen I just…” You cleared your throat of nerves and took his remaining hand in yours. You felt him tense but you persevered knowing this might be the only chance to tell the man you loved how you felt.
“I…I love you Jaime…I’m in love with you.”
The silence that followed made your gut clench and you heart plummet, even more so when he only nodded. He slowly pulled his hands from yours and looked at you. He obviously cared, but you could tell he was trying to find the words that would put an end to everything.
“I care about you.” He said looking down before looking into your eyes, his having gone colder, harder in a way you had never seen. “But don’t misunderstand. I can’t love you. I’m hateful, just like her, and I won’t ever love anyone else.”
You felt nauseous from his words as his eyes continued to watch you before he finally turned and walked away. It was only after he rode through the gates that you let your knees hit the ground.
