❛ i fight so that all of the fighting i’ve already done hasn’t been for nothing. ❜
Link picks up burden like the wind picks up leaves -- without thought, in plenty, and as if they were nothing. The crease of Mipha’s lips fall flat.
She starts, stops, all without looking at him. Her hands clasp before her. Before her lay a stream that split into two. On one hand, there is regret -- guilt that he must fight and fight and fight again. On the other...
“Has the world ever been -- truly peaceful?” In a daydream, perhaps. “In every century, there have been people fighting for that which they believe in... Of course... you are no different. I wish that... I might see a truly peaceful world in my time.”
And perhaps... Perhaps it can. Her hands tighten and twist in her lap, determination glittering in her downcast eyes. But they are out of focus, as if she is elsewhere -- and perhaps, if Link could read minds, he would see hers travelling down the stream less taken, and coming to stop before a gigantic mechanical beast... and all the implications that it holds.
Why should he have to fight alone? Why should any of them have to fight alone? Mipha snaps out of her thoughts and darts a glance at him, nods resolutely.
“I’ll fight, too. With all my heart.”
