Eyes: Thanks for throwing the hardest damn question at me. honest to goodness though i think the walking dead is probably the best show in the world let alone the best show of the MANY shows i watch. it’s srsly so amazing i’m getting carried away

Chest: I’d have to say considering the fact that my freshmen roommates called me mom (and still do) that i’d have to say yes i do have strong maternal instincts… i just care… so much…

Feet: Well… toms are super comfortable, but in the winter (as it is now) i’d have to say my fancy ugg boot things are pretty damn comfy and they look good if you don’t wear them every single day like i do…. :D

Totally agree with your reaction to Joker in Death in the Family. Even without the question of his dynamic with Harley, it felt like his humor was really stripped away IMO. Like...if I'm gonna read a Joker story, I really feel like I should wanna laugh at some point--even if I'm horrified or feel bad about it. You planning to do a full review sometime?

I completely agree. A good Joker story can make you feel uncomfortable, sickened, repulsed, shocked, horrified, etc., but it should always make you want to giggle, even if you're ashamed of yourself for doing it. And that's part of Joker's allure, I think--he can drag the reader down to his level by having them find humor in his acts and laugh at his atrocities when it's ingrained in us to deem such things inappropriate. I mean, if you were watching the news with an acquaintance and they suddenly burst into giggles over a particularly horrific story, you'd most likely side-eye them and be disgusted with their reaction. And Joker stories have a similar affect--you know that you're not supposed to laugh and you might even feel guilty for it, but you do it anyway because...well, because Joker might be horrible and foul and perverse, but he's also funny. 

I do plan to review Death of the Family when I've finished reading it. I read more of it last night, but still have several more issues left to complete.

I bought the comic like five years ago but never thought to remove the sleeve until I downloaded scans and saw that there was artwork printed onto the actual book cover. I WAS EXCITED AS WELL.

guys i almost just died along with my sister because it is POURING FREAKING RAIN and the windshield people decided to fix my wipers but not really fix them because they were originally making bad noises and now they're allegedly fine BUUUUT THE LEFT ONE KEPT GETTING STUCK UNDER THE RIGHT ONE AND THUS MY ENTIRE LINE OF SIGHT WAS COMPLETELY OBLITERATED AND I FELT LIKE I WOULD DRIVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE MY LINES THEN IT GOT HELLA FOGGY AND JFC ALL WE WANTED TO DO WAS SEE SPIDER-MAN 2 WTFHOIGHSFLKGHSFLKGHS

XD Adding two-cents to the Joker convo haha--I actually like the idea of him not being an average joe with a bad day tbh, because I feel like not everyone would make the choice to do what Joker does in the same situation. Sort of like how not every person who gets burned by acid goes Two-Face, you know? The way I read the Killing Joke, it struck me as more of a statement that Joker's condition couldn't be applied to everyone, because Batman and Gordon both had horrible days without going Joker.

I suppose it all comes down to individual nature. I definitely don't think that everyone (or even most people) would make the same choices that Joker did, but I don't find it difficult to believe that some would. Everyone reacts to trauma differently--some people confront their feelings head-on, some people retreat inside themselves, some people take their pain out on others, some deny having any issues, etc. I can see a man who had been struggling with feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing in addition to financial strain (and if there's one thing that can send stress levels into overdrive, it's money) and had just endured the loss of his wife and unborn child being on the verge of a complete breakdown, and when you add a vat of highly potent and body-altering chemicals into the mix--well, that's a recipe for disaster. 

If anything, I think The Killing Joke presents us with the question of why men react the way they do. Why did Joker descend into a world of madness while Gordon and Batman persevered despite being faced with similar situations? I think it goes beyond naive labels like "weakness" and "strength"; I think it has to do with our individual characteristics and our personal capacity for darkness.

It's from the Justice League Unlimited episode "Flash and Substance"! Definitely check it out, it's one of the best episodes of the entire series. :D
