on this day two years ago I finished the painting of the Battle against the Urtarasque, one of my most ambitious and largest paintings, taking around 50 hours altogether. so to celebrate here are some simpler little heraldic stickers of the Golden Beast in both normal colouration and colourpicked from the painting! they are available on redbubble. Smaugust day 15 - Monstrous

The Arrival of the Golden Beast.

Drakken's greatest gift to the material plane, The Golden Beast was a creature of mountainous proportions, with a hide of gold and gems. An attempt to show off his knowledge and skill, when other Deities reacted with rage and mortals with terror, Drake became enraged. And being an extension of him - so did the Golden Beast, it's impenetrable aurum armour turning a flickering red with the reflection of its flames. The abomination was sealed into an ashen mountain by the Greater Deities, and Drake banished to the abyss for his attempt on the Material plane's delicate balance. The villain is punished and the old tale ends there... Right?
