A seasoned member of SHIELD, Nevermore shines, sent to the small town of Puente Antiguo, New Mexico alongside Agent Coulson and Hawkeye, to investigate the arrival of another form space debris, a mystical hammer no one can lift or wield, framed in nordic runes that arrived with weather not seen in a thousands years. As staff builds a protective base around the phenomenon, she cannot help but try her hand. She is not worthy, but she knew that. The base is breached, yet the fanatic apprehended and questioned is released. Ordered to observe, not engage, she learns what she can from the pair of scientists getting drunk at the pub.
In the morning, cataclysm strikes in the form of the Destroyer, sent down to Earth to eliminate Thor at the price of the taking the entire town with him. Kira assists Jane Foster's team in evacuating all civilians until the threat can be contained by Sif and the Warriors Three, then Thor as he reclaims his destiny through true heroism. Though the Asgardians return to their realm, the storm rages on and then subsides. She can only assume what conflict taking place there has come to a resolution, and so she repairs what little SHIELD allows her to repair among the townsfolk before they must take off.
As SHIELD conducts research on the Tesseract, Kira stands by to guard and regale Dr. Selvig of tales of Captain America fighting the Red Skull who powered his weapons with this. She conspires with him to help her. It's origins appear to be Asgardian. Should Thor return, it ought to go with him and not remain in the hands of humans. Dr. Selvig rejects her reasoning because he is not himself.
Loki emerges through a tear in the fabric of space time. And despite her fighting him, her heart is touched by the scepter and her eyes become cloudy blue. She's bewitched to obey his command. And the only resistance she can muster is harsh, biting honesty. She follows him to Germany, where she and Hawkeye assist him in stealing Iridium. They hang back per Loki's command, and let him get captured.
When the Hulk is successfully influenced by the scepter to transform, Nevermore and Hawkeye are well planted to sabotage the helicarriers engines and start taking out the staff. When Hawkeye is compromised, she flees to fetch her master from his cell. She watches as he runs the spear through Phil Coulson, and finally, her mind breaks through only to grieve his wounds and her loss of freedom.
She joins the others at the table, as they figure out where Loki's going and to what end. Her role is to help Black Widow get to Dr. Selvig to stop the portal, while she makes sure the routes to evacuate the city stay clear and unblocked, so that the rest of the team can focus on the Chitauri army and Loki, and not the human death toll.
When it's over and Loki is detained, Kira is heated, but stops after getting a punch in. Because of him, she has to reflect on her life and how it's come to this, that she's put so much worth in the system that is so limited to do good, so biased toward human life above all else, and so ignorant of the universe's wonders unless it can weaponized or marketed into something useful.
