Continued Repairs | Jenny&Dex | V9 W2 | Tuesday Midday
The work was good, solid, something for her to get up and do every day, and it was even somewhat fun, sweeping, scrubbing, taking out bad framing and lining up more, the whole routine and work was making her feel almost human again. After assessing what needed to be done for the plumbing, she’d contacted Jenny to let her know that yes, a professional was probably a good idea, since it was better safe than sorry on these things, especially in a public establishment. It was a little strange, not having Jenny check in sooner, so it was some level of relief when she finally did see her walk through the door (which she had gone through the process of replacing just the day before, though it didn’t have a handle yet). She was in the middle of cleaning a bit of the ceiling, balanced on her back on a ladder, bent over backwards with her feet tucked into the lower rungs. From this position, she was able to bend just slightly more to see the woman walking in-
“Oh! Hey!” She said, grinning from behind a dust mask- it mostly showed in her eyes, but there seemed to be a difference in her disposition as well. She’d hung around the city for a week, getting back into the swing of living with people around, becoming somewhat less paranoid about being found out since she was remembering how unobservant most people were. If she got nervous in a crowd and started smelling like a house fire, well, no one really questioned it.
“Your plumber guy came by, fixed some stuff, kind of flooded the bathroom for a little while, but he fixed that too.” She said, her ball-cap falling off, letting her fire-engine red hair flop loose. “Did you know there’s several kinds of smoke residue? I was doing some reading a few days ago, had to figure out where to start after I just swept everything, y’know.”
